Story Behind The Song
It is amazing what a little conversation fuelled by whiskey can do. There I was defending the English with whom I live. I asked why the Scottish National Anthems always had to refer to England and some victory hounds of years ago. Could went be proud of just Scotland and keeping the English out of the conversation. so fuelled by the whiskey and determination to write a new Anthem heroes the result.

Lyrics
God Bless My Scotland, her rivers and her braes
Where eagles fly and deer run by the lochs where cattle graze
God Bless my country, and every lowland town
Where grit and will, and work and skill
Have brought her world renown
God Bless my people, may they always be
So worthy of this land they love
A Scotland proud and free
God Bless my Scotland,no more the pibroch plays
From Hill and Glen no marching men their songs of battle raise
God bless my country, the clans are dead and gone
But still a part of Scotlands heart, their memory lives on
God Bless my people, etc.....
God Bless My Scotland her music and her songs
The sweet Romance, the Ceildhe dance, Its where my heart belongs
God bless my country, the kilts that dance and sway
The Piper's hum, the beating drum, the flags in full array
God Bless my people, etc.
God Bless my Scotland, and may the strangers find
Whatever face whatever race a welcome warm and kind
God Bles my Country, where doors are open wide
And words of cheer, and welcome here, are waiting there inside
God Bless my People, etc
