Story Behind The Song
I had a fight with my new wife. Spent the night in my office. When I started to think "here I go again...divorce, failure, lonely..." this song just poured out as if to say "Snap out of it! There is a reason for everything...including tonight. You are blessed. Be thankful." The song wrote itself.
Song Description
This song is ultimately about faith and hope. But it is also about looking in the mirror in times of challenge and seeing someone you used to be, someone you don't want to be again. It's about the awareness of one's past, and about having the strength to learn from it, shed it, and move on with the plan the God has for you, without requiring that you understand the plan.

Lyrics
Faith in Fate
Jeffrey W. Posey
It?s an ?I give up? glass of whiskey
A ?who gives a damn? cigarette
It?s forgettin? the day you felt lucky
When you thought you had nothin? left
You wake up alone in a motel
with a lonely you can hate again
In the mirror?s a man you know won?t tell
the condition he found you in
Don?t give in
?And he?s seen you here before
He?s seen you crawl and then
he?s seen you to the door
through which he knew you?d walk again
And he?s seen you lookin? back at him
when you thought he?d turned away
Good God, do you really think of him
when things don?t go your way
Go your way
And you stumble into tomorrow
trippin? over yesterday
Did you forget the prayers He answered
Are you unaware you prayed
You?ve been taken to your knees I know
By those who scarred your faith
But the one who kneels beside you now
Only takes you there to pray
Have faith in fate
It?s never wakin? up
?Cause you never really sleep
But somehow you missed another sunup
And figure he just sank too deep
So you cry for the lonely sun
?cause he?s got no one to hold
And the moon makes you the jealous one
He?s everything the poets told
Poets told
And he?s seen you there before
Seen the envy in your eyes
As lovers walk the shore And boldly taunt
you in his light
But he?s seen you lookin? up at him
somehow unafraid
God knows you?re meant to dance again
The sun and moon your serenade
Serenade
There's an empty glass of whiskey
and a half-smoked cigarette
All the trappings of the lonely on a
nightstand by the bed
You step into the sunrise
Gideon Bible in your hand
You hold it up to shade your eyes
And you don't look back again
That's Faith in fate
Faith in fate
