Story Behind The Song
Many yeaers ago, I was asked to write a theme song for an album that was being recorded by a policeman, a song that could be the them song for the National Fraternal Order of Police. I wrote "I'm The Law." The guy did not record it.
Song Description
I thought someone should write a song that shows the police in a good light to offest the press always pointing out only the things that they do wrongly.

Lyrics
I'm The Law by Glenn Warren
You know me when you see me...Even late at night;
Sometimes I wear a uniform and drive a black and white;
I swore to serve the people...I don my best to serve 'em all;
Out there on the streets at night...I'm The Law.
I've got this little partner...We make a real good team;
Me? I'm easy goin'...Smith and Wesson he talks mean;
If there's any trouble...all you have to do is call...
Where you won't find a judge or jury...I'm The Law.
Bridge: My life's in constant danger in the rougher parts of town;
Sometimes I've been outnumbered...
And just had to stare 'em down;
Some folks don't understand my job...
They're quick to criticize;
They'd change their minds...
If they saw law and order through my eyes;
I've been threatened with a razor...
Been cut bad with a butcher kniofe;
Four inches of a switchblade one time almost took my life;
So in certain situations...I might be short on protocol;
But I don't get many second chances...I'm The Law.
Bridge: I've stopped felonies in progress...
Hauled the guilty off to jail;
Before I got back on the street...
They'd gotten out on bail;
I'm not askin' for your sympathy or praise from anyone...
Just let me do my job the wy I know it must be done;
My badge is like a target when I pin it on my chest;
But I protect the rights of all...even those I must arrest;
Weh you life's in danger, all you have to do is call...
'Cause out there on the streets at night...I'm The Law;
I don't get many a second chances...I'm The Law;
Where you won't find a judge or jury...I'm The Law.
