Lyrics
Asheville by Glenn Warren and Worley Max McKinney
She started crying in Nashville...backin' out of our driveway;
She stopped at the mailbox...just to dry her eyes;
She said she loved me still...and that she always will...
But she had Asheville on her mind.
I chased neon rainbows...while she waited tables...
Trying to help me keep my dreams alive;
She gave up on Music Row...
Couldn't stand to see it hurt me so...
So she had Asheville on her mind.
Bridge: When my rainbows had faded...
I saw my dreams in black and white...
I begged that greyhound driver...please let me ride;
This old guitar sure plays true...
I'll give her, case and all, to you...
If you'll take me as far as it's worth to you tonight;
They changed drivers in Knoxville...
Now, out in the mountain chill...
I'm hitchin' toward that Carolina line;
She'll know when she sees my face...
Nothing in Nashville can take her place...
And I've got Asheville on my mind.
She'll see I love her still...and that I always will...
And I 've got Asheville on my mind.
I'm keepin' Asheville on my mind.
