Story Behind The Song
Don wanted to write "Deep Water" during one of our first writing sessions. Though I knew of other songs by the same title, I bowed to Don's wished since he is in the songwrier's Hall of Fame and I was lucky to get to write with him, and he thought we could give the title a different slant. This is one of thebest songs in my catalog.
Song Description

Lyrics
Deep Water by Glenn Warren and Don Wayne
Been keepin' my heart...on solid ground...
Stayin' in shallow water, Baby...Afraid I'd drown;
Now I've let you take me...too far from the shore;
My mind yells "Danger!"...My body cries "More...More...More!"
Chorus: I'm slippin' in...Deep Water...
Deeper than I've ever been;
I'm slippin' in Deep Water, Baby...
And I don't know how to swim.
Here in your arms...Your lips on mine...
Our hearts beating together, Baby, in perfect time...
This wave of emotion...turned my hear around...
It's takin' control...Pulling us down down down...
Chorus: I'm slippin' in...Deep Water...
Deeper than I've ever been;
I'm slippin' in Deep Water, Baby...
And I don't know how to swim.
Hold on...Ababy, Hol don..
I'm afriad I'l open my eyes and find you gone.
Chorus: I'm slippin' in...Deep Water...
Deeper than I've ever been;
I'm slippin' in Deep Water, Baby...
And I don't know how to swim...
Come on and teach me to swim.
