Story Behind The Song
This song was written during my father-in-law?s two-year long battle with cancer. It was inspired by Barry?s daughter, Lisa Clark, and her love for her ?Dadaddy?. Their relationship reminded me of my own Grandpa who left his body in 1991. Originally instrumental only, I couldn?t ignore the signs that Lisa?s poem about Fred, read as part of his eulogy, should be put to music. Her poignant words tell the beautiful story of a great man, a gentle man, a loved man. Lisa, one of your gifts to this world is your kind heart and ability to express your feelings with exquisite poetry. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to put it to music.

Lyrics
The year was nineteen and forty-two
And Uncle Sam needed his time
Our world had gone to war
And everyone sacrificed
Uniform clad, suitcase in hand
The newlyweds said their goodbyes
The young bride dabbed at her eyes
She wondered how she would make it by
Just one last kiss, that was all she?d need
Just one last kiss to see her through until the next time they?d meet
She didn?t know where or when that precious time would be
??Til we?re together again, I?ll rub your kiss in, and keep this kiss from me.?
A summer trip to Tennessee
It was already time to leave
Our time spent soon just memories
But oh how, how much fun they would be
Now it was time to say goodbye
This was always the hardest part for me
And although we?d try, try to be brief
We?d always need (that one last thing)
Please give me one last kiss, that?s all I need
One last kiss to see me through until we meet
We don?t know where or when that time will be
??Til we?re together again, I?ll rub your kiss in
Grandaddy, won?t you keep this kiss from me?
At his bed, his frail hand in mine
His body weak, but soul so full of life
All words are spoken, he drifts off to sleep
And my heart aches, it nearly breaks
Now I know what we both need
Just one last kiss, that is all we need
Just one last kiss to see us through until Heaven we meet
One last kiss, that is all we ever need
One last kiss will see me though until next time we meet
We don?t know where or when that precious time will be
?But until we?re together again,
Dadaddy, I?ll rub your kiss in
And keep this kiss from me, I?ll miss you.?
