Story Behind The Song
W wanted to do some kind of homage to funk / soul and thought that this would be a good experience for the horn section. Harry picked up on a very soulful bass line and Chico enjoyed the drum parts. The solo from Colin towards the end of the piece has been put through a phaser to give it that seventies feel. The story is simple ; she is a queen bee picking off her people one at a time, using them up and discarding them once she has had her fill. Enter hero who will dance the badness out of her but ultimately cannot save her for she must save herself from herself - philosophy as well with these songs !

Lyrics
WHAT YOU CAN GET ( W L COTTERELL 2013 )
You sit there in your garden looking like a queen,
Watching all your subjects and treating them real mean.
You let them dip for honey, you let them tend your nest
Your wrap them in your petals then discard them with the rest
You dress in finest fabrics, your hair is a la mode
You paint your nails like talons, that in the twilight softly glow
You twist all your suitors round your finger,
You make them wish they hadn't been born
And then at a time of your pleasing you drag them across you prickly thorns.
You are bad, sad everybody knows
You are pure trouble from your head down to your toe
In the heat of the evening when the light begins to sweat
You will take what you can get
I want to get you on the dance floor and show you a thing or two
I'll spin you around in circles and you won't know what to do.
Your time will come my darling,
Be ready for the fall
There will no one there to catch you , no one to hear you as you call
You are bad, sad everybody knows
You are pure trouble from your head down to your toe
In the heat of the evening when the light begins to sweat
You will take what you can get
