Story Behind The Song
W wanted some kind of summer themed song nodding in the direction of the great Brian Wilson but also some of the studio group work of the seventies - White Plains / Eddystone Lighthouse / Honeybus etc. So, a simple theme about escape and how good it feels, lots of major sevenths, complex harmonies and lyrics that contain the line, " Don't it make you wish that the day would last forever, Don't it make you wish that the sun will never set. This is the day to beyond the end of never,
This is the day you won't ever forget. " Those were indeed the days. The production was very complex with many instruments to figure in and a vocal finale that included fifteen different parts - W freely admits that he had to use over dubbing to make it work but is proud that every member of the group sang on the song including the memorable, " Oh my baby, " from Harry with the deep bass voice.
