Story Behind The Song
I remember my daughter asking me if Santa Claus was really real? I wrote the first verse and chorus and couldn't come up with a second verse. A week or so later, I was driving to another town. and the second verse came to me. My wife wrote the lyrics on the back of a deposit slip. I don't know what happened to the original lyrics, but I still have the lyrics she wrote on the deposit slip.

Lyrics
Santa's Cause
My little girl came home today and the question that she asked
Was Santa Claus a real man or someone in a mask
Does he slide down our chimney? Do the reindeer really fly?
Does he bring us gifts at Christmas and she wanted to know why?
I told her Santa Claus was real, but there was something she should know
More important than his red suit or his jolly Ho Ho Ho
Before she asked for makeup or another baby doll
I felt he wanted me to say believe in Santa's Cause
Chorus
Good will toward men, peace on earth
Where hearts are filled with happiness and no-one hurts
And love is the best gift of all
Love's the key and I believe in Santa's Cause
Hoping I had made my point with this precious child of mine
I couldn't help but wonder what was going through her mind
She went for pen and paper from the top drawer of my desk
Then climbed up on my lap to make her newest Christmas list
She told me write to Santa Claus and tell him she'd been good
She was leaving milk and cookies and hoped he understoood
This year instead of presents to place beneath the tree
She wished that he'd bring everyone the power to believe
Repeat Chorus
