Story Behind The Song
When I wrote this back in the summer of 2000 it somehow confirmed to me I could write songs. It was a turning point. The words and music came quickly and at the same time.
I had been out and about during the Edinburgh Festival, it was a beautiful summer's day, there were all these people whizzing around me yet I felt a strange melancholy for no apparent reason. One of those times when everything should be good but you feel disconnected somehow.
I went home and later that night wrote the song.
Song Description
A rolling, moody piece with an uplifting chorus. Picture a perfect summer day when everything should be fine but you feel strangely melancholic inside... this song attempts to capture that feeling.

Lyrics
She was the summer in your eyes
You watch her light move on from above
Burn a candle in my veins
All the things you can't explain
Dirty feelings wash over your mind
And if don't like what you see inside
Just close your eyes
Nothing will escape no need to deny
The tears that you hide
Consider where you will find
The hope you feel you've traded for love
Talk until this darkness falls
Through the floor below your hold
Rising up just let the weight pass on through
{chorus repeat}
Don't you know that it waits outside
There lies a dream you hide behind your eyes
In the pouring rain when there's no-one to blame this time
This time
{chorus repeat}
