Story Behind The Song
The title and some of the references are very specific to my childhood but the overall theme relates the way certain seemingly meaningless memories stay with you.
When I was a child, someone used to draw these arrows in green chalk on the streets where I lived. My friends and I used to follow them, imagining they would lead to some 'treasure' or magical place. Inevitably, they didn't and we never did find out who was behind them.
The music came all at once, either at the end of 2002/start of 2003, while the lyrics were written months later.
Song Description
Quirky and fast-paced shuffle featuring a brass arrangement with lots of imagery giving an abstract look at how seemingly insignificant things can stick in the brain long after they've happened.

Lyrics
Drew first blood
I wonder
Could it ever be real
And we're not here
The landscape engulfs us
It makes me feel so strange
Not out of reach
Just too heavy too speak
These images that leave their mark without a trace
Green arrows on the pavement to a secret place
And there'll be more than you can find
Limitless beyond the lines
Outside
Outside
Who lit the match
That got us here
Who stole the kiss
I claimed was mine
Pretend to be somebody else
But still it's not enough
Keep wanting more
I thought that I was sure
{chorus repeat}
I'm never really sure of anything
I'll open up the door and see what I can bring
{chorus repeat}
