Lyrics

Just play me a tune

Sitting with my girlfriends at the Bluebird
Couldn't help it when he caught my eye
Snug-fittin ` Levis, striped flannel shirt
Guitar case blocking the aisle(s)

Big baby blues and a smile pearly white
I bet if he stands we would have a good sight
The boots were all dusty, Stetson the same
Couldn't help it, just had to get the boy`s name

When he opened his mouth, I expected Paisley
With looks like that the voice had to fit
But his "Hallo Baby" sounded like Grandma Daisy
My girls all choked in laughing fits...

(Baby) please don't talk you're gorgeous enough
Don't spoil the fantasy by making us laugh
Our composure, long tried, has left us in ruin
Just pick up your Fender, and just play me a tune...

Transported in time, he carried us away
Long past our bedtime and curfew we stayed
His fingers strummed a melody from the Gods
We all jumped to our feet in wondrous applause

He got down off the stage and we waited for him
He walked straight past us, to a blonde thing, so thin
And so young that we couldn't but help feeling green
Obviously she don't mind if he can`t sing

Well, we stayed for the second set to cheer the boy on
Along with his Barbie until close to dawn
As we left I couldn't help take a second glance
If only he could sing, I would have taken that chance

O, please don't talk you're gorgeous enough
Don't spoil the fantasy by making us laugh
Our composure long tried is left us in ruin
Just pick up the Fender boy, and pick another tune
Yeah, just pick up your Tele,... and just play me a tune...

The instrumentation and arrangement are very good for this folky little song. The imagery is excellent. Lots of good lines "Guitar case blocking the aisle" "Don't spoil the fantasy by making us laugh". Singer is natural and it feels like a real experience.

Interesting song idea, with a reversal of the usual gender stereotypes. Clever lyrics. Very nice instrumentation and production. Lovely voice, with a delightful accent.

Very good vocal good lyrics nice all round sound

Very good vocals and a good beat as well, really good lyrics too!

Lovely! Just lovely! You told a good story in a winsome, engaging way, easy to follow from beginning to end. Excellent instrumentation enhanced the production. It's obvious you worked hard on this one. Great voice, nicely done!
