Story Behind The Song
My inspiration for this song was my father John Joseph McCormack who lived in Prince Edward Island.

Lyrics
Across the Island
Hello my friend from the Mainland
I can?t meet you there, like we planned
There?s a great big world, and it?s right here to see
So I don?t know why I?d ever leave.
All my friends are from the island,
Ain?t always easy here, but we?re smilin?
Why don?t you come see me
I live down by the sea
And I don?t know why I?d ever leave
Oh I like the way the sand feels
In my toes ( I feel it down in my toes)
And I like the way that the music
Speaks to my soul (Deep down in my soul)
And when the wind, the wind softly blows
Across the Island
Across the Island
Across the Island
Across the Island
My familys lived here since I was a child
Nights of laughter
Some days we ran wild
Daddy played the fiddle
And he fished the sea
And I don?t know why we?d ever leave
Tell your sisters
Tell your brothers
Tell your babies
Tell your lovers
There?s a great big world
It?s right here to see
And you?ll find out
If you ever leave
Oh I like the way the sand feels
In my toes (I feel it down in my toes)
And I like the way that the music
Speaks to my soul (Down deep in my soul)
And when the wind, the wind softly blows
Across the Island
Across the Island
Across the Island
Across the Island
