Story Behind The Song
This is track 5, the last song on Volume 1 of our 3 Volume concept album "Grey Expectations." The album will be released at the end of April. The concept album progresses chronologically and this song takes place between high school and college. It's perhaps the last time in our lives where we don't have to worry about real life problems. We're still just partying and having fun.
Song Description
Although written as a reflection on our time partying in high school and college, this song is more or less a young adult anthem. It's about partying, drinking, getting high in our late teens and early twenties when we think we're indestructible and that adults take things to seriously. We think we're gonna live forever and that life is simple... not realizing that as we age, partying begins to take its toll on us and eventually becomes an escape. But the characters in the song are oblivious to all of this. The song doesn't attempt to look too far into the future, but there are subtle hints and a bit of foreshadowing that things could go askew down the road. In the context of the album, it's intended to foreshadow the future, but as a stand-alone song, listeners will think of it as simply a song about having a good time.
