People are turned on by pretty things but there's a sacrifice this beauty brings. In a world of diamonds and of gold is a story infrequently told. What they represent in history is blood upon the hands of so many. Native Indians gave it away and butchered still 'cause they stood in the way of greedy intentions of soulless men who valued gold over the Indian. But this is not where the story began; they'd been murdering the African. Burning kingdoms that were centuries old and falling on their knees to kiss that gold.
They're worth more than the weight of gold....
The innocent get caught up in the fray. For conflict diamonds rich men make them slaves. Devastating their own countrymen. Another genocide we let happen. For every diamond sold a life is lost and with each life Africa's paid the cost.
Who bears the burden of gold? Who carries the weight?
