Live Oak is a progressive/indie rock band, formed in 2002, from Charleston, South Carolina. Composed of Campbell Brown, Brian Graham, Oliver Roberts, Stephen Stokes and Paul Quattelbaum, the band met at the College of Charleston in late 2001. They began writing songs and started playing out in early 2002. During that summer the band went on a self promoted tour through the Southeastern United States. The tour was successful in that they played in such legendary clubs as Tipitina's in New Orleans, and Continental Club in Austin.
For the sake of some of the members still being in school, playing in and around town seemed to be the best way to stay grounded. A new Summer tour in 2003 allowed Live Oak to play the East Coast. This tour also saw some more of the country's finest clubs (CBGB's and The Lion's Den in New York City). When it was over they went straight to the studio to record some of the songs that they had been writing throughout the year.
