I write songs as an act of self-creation. Sometimes they demand to get written, although I rewrite and struggle with them through days and weeks, and sometimes they emerge whole and intact in a matter of 30 minutes. I try to keep "me" out of the creative process, believing as Julia Cameron (The Artist's Way, The Right to Write, and other books) that creativity is not so much about "thinking something up, as it is about getting something down," and I think most writers and medium artists, and possibly some philosophers and scientists would share this view. Where it comes from is that same place where the Universe was born, I think.

Be careful travelling out of the country with a wooden guitar. It might get confiscated because the fretboard uses Brazilian rosewood, or the Ivory inlays are in violation of EPA rules. I am serious. Kurt, Years Left to Burn is poignant and beautifully crafted. My school is the School of Job (the Bible Guy). Faith is a choice that requires constant testing and renewal. But you still sound like the young Leonard Cohen to me, and that makes me happy. May you live until you die! - Nick

Thanks, Nick. Very very kind comments, so appreciated! "Years" is totally autobiographical...no one (except my wife) has ever responded as positively as you have tot he song. Best wishes, Kurt

Kurt: 'She Needs Some Rain' is very much the quintessential folk song - very classic in form, feel and heartfelt story. Most enjoyable. . . as always, PGO

Thanks, PGO. Appreciate your taking the time to listen. I like a feedback environment where people say what they like, or what they don't like, but don't play the 'not marketable' card on you! Best regards as always.
