Mick is a multi-disciplinary artist currently focused on writing and recording new material for his album Good Measure.
Mick was born in Los Angeles & raised in Golden Valley, Tasmania. Interests in music early in life lead Mick to learn the guitar, start a band & eventually learn to write songs. Also in his teens Mick discovered dance, later leading him to study for his Bachelor of Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts, which included scholarship studies at the London Contemporary, UK.
Throughout Micks' dance performance & choreographic career music has played an important role & in 2002 Mick began recording & mixing his own audio projects for dance/theatre work. In 2003 Mick began working with Pro Tools & Final Cut Pro & in 2004 he created a series of short contemporary dance/music videos. In 2005 Mick conducted choreographic research, touring Asia, Europe, U.K & USA.
Returning to Australia, Mick aims to infuse true character into his songs as he finally chases a dream.
My New Adventure
My new adventure begins today, beyond the place i once did stay. Behind the fears i stowed away.beneath this hardend ground of clay. For now i know that i must pray that i have found a better way.

Hi Michael -- I critiqued a fair number of your tunes yesterday and now here are three more. You are seemingly quite prolific. I must say without exaggeration that I think you are one of the most promising singer-songwriters I've heard in a long time. All three of these songs were really interesting and showed huge talent. My instinct tells me that what you really need is a great producer with whom you can collaborate with mutual respect and hone this material -- not only sonically, but also the songs themselves -- into marketable recordings. I feel you are very close and ready for the next level. Seek and ye shall find! Best of luck!

I like your style Mick- it's very eclectic and original. After reading your bio I'd be really interested in seeing you perform live. It's not often that you come across a singer/songwriter dancing performer with a style as unique as yours. I like the things your saying in your songs- stories are a huge deal to me and you have a talent for writing about common things but making them sound clever or different. 'The Tryke Song' was my favorite as I really appreciated the mellowness of the acoustic guitar and the wordy nature of the chorus. Overall all 3 songs were executed well however I don't hear any evident pop rock component like other artists mentioned in this listing therefore I'm unable to forward you. I'm not suggesting that you change your sound as I really think it works for the tone and texture of your voice and in my opinion there's nothing you need to improve on in terms of your writing as you seem to have your song structure, hook and lyrics down. Best of luck to you!

Title: Everything is fine
Hi Michael, I really love this song. It's a really cool kinda edgy chill song with a great mood. This song to me has a kinda retro classic feel. The guitars are gorgeous. The performance and the chords you chose are very moving. And I love your voice which harkens back to classic kinda 70's singer songwriters. You are very different then the artists listed and the songs that they are known for. Part of it is this song is more like a gorgeous "album" cut and not typically "poppy" with the memorable chorus/hook line. But - I like it so much that if your mix was better I would forward it because as a composition and artistically it's beautiful. So - get that mix cleaned up. Brighter and more intimate! And be sure and submit it to appropriate listings. This song is not hot "ac" as listing requests! But is sure is lovely :) I feel you! Good luck!

"Very Beatlesce in feel. Theatrical in its changes. I like that you take a chance like the Beatles did to put in new and different sounds and many changes -- and old fashioned sounds like the simple organ or squeezebox playing. They are good to the ear. I enjoyed this. It imparts a feeling of days gone by that makes me feel sad though. Like the way it goes back to the circus organ. I don't even mind the little parting tweet."
"I really enjoyed it, so much going on, fab vocals, sounds like so many artists, david bowie, The beatles, The band, and lots more, I listened to it 5 times. very good. When you first listen to the song you could turn if off thinking it was going too be an organ sound all the way through, but it dusssss'nt. fab"
"The hook (title) was really vague for me-but I hated to spoil a straight 5 song with (perhaps) my inability to flush it out."

"The electric guitar is strange...but I kinda liked it..."
"Very original sound, good lyrics"
"Solid songwriting. Great vibe."
Simple Day
"Very original stuff. I like the build with the drums.
This draws from the acoustic side of classic Ambient Rock masters such as Pink Floyd, Traffic, solo John Lennon, and even Led Zeppelin. The lyrics are expressed in a poetic sense and the ethereal lead vocal melody and style fits well with the ambling tempo. I LOVE the haunting reverbed "a-h-h" that occurs in the instrumental break prior to the 2nd verse! The background vocal coming in on the 2nd verse is very effective. Very original and effective. The shift to the F#m from the C-Am walk-down is an excellent touch.
I marked N/A for "Market Potential" because this is more like a "signature" piece for an original and somewhat ecclectic acoustic performer or duo. There is a bit of a contemporary feel at times that points to Cowboy Junkies, Smashing Pumpkins, and the like, so maybe there IS some "market appeal", but I think it would have to be a bit more "aggressive" at some point to tap that area."
The Tryke Song
"Good Tune!!! it has a Paul Simon feel to it. Lyrics and hook are great!"
Holly Metaphor
"Its got a good woodstock hippy feel to it. and the excitement builds nicely in the developement of the song. Interesting fx."
Fast Away
"This song really has its moments very moody blues..."
