Hi Roy, what level is the ASCAP promotional account? I'm on the monthly Primo right now. Thanks.
Hell Mr. Elkins, I did what you said and now my song is on my page, thanks! Quick ?, I thought that ASCAP members get a broadjam account, and if so, why isn't mine connected? I received the message from ASCAP telling me to take advantage of this $100 package that all members receive...Is this the account or is there something I done wrong? Thanks!
Sandy, ASCAP members can sign up for a promotional account through the ASCAP community. www.ascap.com, then click on members, social network and join.....Hope this helps.....Roy
Todd, We're offering the Pro level in our partnership with ASCAP....Thanks, Roy
Anything similar for BMI members?
Preston, We don't currently have a promotion for BMI mutual members.....Sorry about that, but we'd love to....Maybe at some point in the future.....All the best, Roy
Pete, thanks very much for your great review of Night Train. Your points are well taken. It's a song I recorded and self-produced a number of years ago. For me it's a steep learning curve just getting a decent recording in my home project studio. If I can dig it out of my archives, I'll go back and do another mix. And, as Nashville Joe's words of encouragement were to you, so yours are to me. Thanks again, Todd
I agree with you about some of the genre lists... BUT I really enjoyed your song as I am a fan of the Oldies sound and the Classic Rock sound.
Guy, thanks for your review of Crazy For You. I agree about the "Oldies" vs "Classic Rock". I'm still getting used to the BJam site. I don't remember if there's an oldies choice. I'd like to see an "other" option in all the "style, mood, artist" selections to type in your own.
Grey, thanks for your review. I appreciate it. I did this a few years ago. Still learning to engineer and produce myself (not to mention getting used to the BJam site). You might be right about the reverb on This Wintered Heart, although i was going more for a vintage, Everly Brothers sound. Modern pop uses much less. Thanks, again.
Hi Todd, thanks for the cool review of my toon "El Roy-O X" (spaghetti western one) - nice hat!
Todd those are minor 7th notes...not very easy to sing...there is no pitch issue:-) It's all good!!!
Hey Robert, didn't mean to step on your toes! Actually, the minor 7ths didn't bother me. Maybe I'm too hyper sensitive!
No worries...I am very sensitive to pitch and intonation issues. I would not publish anything with a tuning issue. I like to hit odd notes...it takes away the vanilla:-) All the best!! Peace, RW
Hi Todd, Thanks for the review of Pinto Pony (the surfy sounding instrumental). I agree that the bridge has a weirdness about it that I could never quite put my finger on. Literally. I thought maybe we just played the tune a little too fast, and I couldn't quite get my fingers around it. Might be what made that one string buggy. I appreciate your taking the time to give it a listen, and to make some seriously constructive remarks.
Hey, I just gave a listen to Gypsy Road. Real good tune. Lots of reminders of McGuinn and The Byrds without sounding like you were imitating them. Fast and straight and up to date. Has kind of a Gin Blossoms thing going. If you get a minute, please visit my profile and check out Still I Miss You. I think you'll find some of the same elements. Cheers.
Hey Kenton, thanks for good comments. I'll check out your profile. I'm wondering (just a suggestion) if you have access to the Pinto Pony tracks, if you could add some rhythmic hihat or something in there?
Unfortunately, I don't have access to the tracks. We actually recorded that almost twenty years ago on analog at a studio in Colorado. I uploaded it to submit it for an opp that was looking for retro-sounding surf instrumentals. I'm really pretty lucky to have gotten a CD with all the stuff on it that we recorded back then. We recorded 17 songs over a couple of years, then the band broke up and the master sat on a shelf in the studio for ten years. The engineer just happened to be doing some work there and came across it and made a few CDs and sent them to us. I'd bet the working tracks were taped over, or tossed. I never had them. a good suggestion though. It would have added to the upper end in a positive way. Do you do production work on stuff other than your own?
Yes, I've been recently recording and producing on a fairly small scale. My ears have been getting better and and I've been remixing and remastering things I did a few years ago. If you wanted to send me a cd, I'd take a crack at putting something in there. (as a freebie, no less). I'm digital and it can be tricky to match all the variables, but it might be worth a shot. It's such a good song. If you didn't like what I did, you know where the "trash can" is.
Could you do it from an MP3? If so, just shoot me an e-mail at kadler@lyon.edu and I'll send you the track as an attachment. If not, I'll have to wait until things slow down a little bit and find the disc that has that on it. I ripped it a couple of years ago and it's just been sitting here on my hard drive. I'm a bagpiper with the Lyon College Pipe Band in Arkansas, and this is a really busy time for us, in addition to working in IT for the college, and school just getting cranked back up. I've been running on sugar and caffiene for the last two weeks.
I'll do that.
Hi Roy, I received and email saying I had received a comment, but when I logged on, the new comment was nowhere to be found. AND I had a comment that someone had made a week ago that I had not received email notification for. Something is rotten in Denmark lol. Maybe you guys can check this out. Thanks!
Update. Having logged on, I went back to the original email and clicked on the link in the email. Then I could see the post. I think all this has to do with the way broadjam handles posts, because I also couldn't see my post to your page unless I went to YOUR profile page.
Don, Thanks for the note and your continued input....You don't have to come to my profile to see your posts to me. Just click on the "By Me" tab at the top of your comments page on your profile and that will show you all of your posts....Thanks for the feedback and we will keep working on this.....All the best, Roy
Hello Don, When you login to your account, just click the "Comments" tab at the top of the page and then click on the link that reads "To Me." This will show you all of the comments made to you by other members. If, however, the comment is not appearing, it's possible that the member who made the post deleted it, as all members have the ability to do this with their posts.
Hello customer support! BJ, have you had any luck posting my video? Seems like a straight video shouldn't pose such a problem..... Thanks!
I am starting to figure out how to maneuver these pages. It seems the "Comments" link under my Name does something different from the 'comments' button in the top right. I think that is causing the confusion.
Hello Rich -- We still have one more video-encoding program we're going to try. It's a matter of extracting the videos in the correct format and then converting them to Flash for the website. Once we have an update for you, we will contact you right away. In the meantime, thank you for your patience.
Don, good point. You are correct. The "Comments" button at the top right is your edit comments page where you can block users, delete comments, etc. The other comments link is a list of comments that we think you might be interested in reading.
A forum would be good! Also, the ability for user input regarding similar artist, genre, mood rather than just the listed choices. Thanks
