Hello, My name is Bob Levoy, and I am a U.S. Navy Veteran and music and concert reviewer. I have written over 3500 reviews since the 1980s for my blog Oasis Entertainment and for independent record labels, PR firms, festivals, venues and bands. I write reviews for all genres, except for hip hop, which is not my cup of tea. In addition to all the independent labels and artists that I have been writing reviews for, I am currently an Author on Staff at Virtuosity Worldwide Arts & Entertainment Magazine, a subsidiary of Virtuosity Worldwide LLC. I write music reviews and do concert and festival interviews and reviews for their magazine. I will still write reviews for my independent artists and labels in addition to the work I will be doing for Virtuosity Worldwide. I do reviews in the following priority: 1. Vinyl (I prefer signed if available) 2. CD's (I also review older releases) 3. Digital Download 4. Streaming only if I don't have any of the above on my desk which is very rare. Streaming takes too much time. I would also be interested in reviewing your bands music and reviewing your live performance if you are ever in my area. I do not ask for pay for my reviews, I only ask for either a signed Vinyl or CD and an X-large t-shirt that I wear to promote the bands. You can contact me at one of the links below. Plus, I would love the opportunity to get my vinyl signed the bands. Hello Sazibone. Your music is amazing. Your old school rock sounds are great. Can't wait for more trucks.
Hi there Sazibone. The song that you had featured was ok. It had some clipping in it. If you checked the recording levels, that might help.
Hello Sazibone, Let me know if you're in the market for an audio restoration engineer or masterer to help you get your live recordings to pop more. N
Bill Thanks for reviewing "Catherine Ann". Appreciate your comments about the vocal and the singer's voice. I also agree about the recording quality. This - like all the songs we've posted so far - was recorded in the early 70's, on an old reel to reel recorder. Two tracks - played live. - no digital multitracking in those days! I've included them here at Broadjam, so that we can get some perspective from the community about what's good, what people like, and any ideas on improvements for when / if we record any of the tracks again. I'm finding it's somewhat hard to get peer reviews and even less frequent when the comments are helpful. So thanks for taking the time to listen. I also listened to several of your songs and I like them very much. I plisted Sweet Honey Wine - I really like to uniqueness of the acoustic guitar on that track. Keep them coming!
hey Sazibone, thanks for your review of The Graveyard Shift, obviously we don't agree on several of your comments, especially the hook/title mentioned @ :55, 1:39, 2:31, 3:11, 3:20, 3:27 and 3:36, and frankly your other comments are WAY off base--the "arrangement" IS sparse with only a piano, acoustic guitar, vocal and synth organ-predominantly...not sure what you were listening to, but heck, we all have our opinions, i suggest you listen to the song again, and get back to me. all the best, and frankly, you're the only one who has not only misunderstood this tune, but have given it such a mixed review. all the best, Warren Hein (and i've NEVER answered anyone in this fashion in my 7 years here--but i guess there's a first time for every thing!)
Warren -I listened to The Graveyard Shift again and except for missing the song title, I stand by my comments. As I said I fill out the review as I listen so I try to get an idea what the song title should be in the first minute, and I just didn't see that The Graveyard Shift related to the the rest of the verse. Oh well, that's my bad. On the other hand, I also listened to Let's Drive and Too Much I Don't Know and not only loved the songs personally, but thought they did a much better job of addressing the points I was making about Graveyard Shift - which is why I liked them so much. Til next time
hey my friend THANK YOU for listening to the tune again, heck most folks on here don't listen/review to any tunes, and you've way beyond, thank you for the words--I also went back last evening after a few beers and still really like that tune...LOL...but that makes the world go around--all the best to you, oh PS I make my notes on the songs the same way and only listen once, so I've had some complaints, but you are right, it should be the first listen that rates the song! the "pros" do it that way...all the best, Warren
Listened to Everything Means Nothing and loved it! Also liked the style of Hold-On. Will listen to more - a little at a time. Congrats on your successes and current Top 10.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. Will stop by your page a little later today--crazy day around here!
I want to thank you for your the 5 stars you gave Scarborough Faire...That was very kind of you....a friend in music Delta
Thanks for the review on 17 Ghosts. The hard hitting honesty was honest and helpful. This is what helps me become a better writer (I hope). Good luck with that Kick-starter. Hope it pans out. I love the Chicago sound
Thank you for giving my song I Gave My Love a Cherry a listen and you got lucky and heard a lullaby for my grandchildren, but also a love song to my husband for it was many years before I was able to give my husband a child. So as it is a lullaby that is why it was soft sounding. It is also an English folk tune...called "The Riddle Song" again thank you for your comments and listen...I am a friend in music...Delta
Delta - have you ever heard North Country Maid? HEre's a version from the 60's by Marianne Faithfull. Would love to hear you sing it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_awLg5mbMA&feature=kp 1
I just gave a listen....I really liked her song I have never heard it before...now I can go back and listen again....Thanks for finding it for me. I will put it on my list, I love new songs. Yours in music Delta
Thank you for the 5 star rating before my producer had east/west on my desert sands piece. all the best to you! Warren Hein
Helli Sazibone, thanks for reviewing the Bifocal Blues. I am a folksinger, songwriter & storyteller, so the folk & show go together nicely for me. Glad to meet you on BJ ... Mrs. Kate
Thanks for your review, Kate. Fully agree with you - this song was recorded 40 years ago and hasn't been revisited - could use a third verse to tie things together, and I've since learned to get things more catchy way up front. Good luck with your future projects!
Wow thx for not taking it hard . I have some vintage songs up on my site too.
Hey there Sazibone. Thank you so much for your great review. Very thoughtful and thorough , I really appreciate it ! To answer your question , yes I originally am from Chicago ,where I lived for most of my life but now live in Wisconsin .I'm looking forward to listening to your cuts as well. Thanks again Tony DiPofi
Sazibone is a collaboration of musicians who performed together in the late 60s - early 70s and recorded a body of work including roughly 40-50 demo tracks. While none of these were ever released commercially, we have come together again for the purpose of re-recording the material and (hopefully) refreshing the musical content and production quality of these songs. Stylistically the music reflects the influence of Neil Young and CSNY, Pete Townsend, and Beggars Banquet and earlier Stones. Lyrically, the material is still amazingly relevant today and we 'd like to see it reach a new audience - yet with a bit of historical context
