Nigel Thanks for your comments on 'Sail Away'. The track was written and posted nearly 10 years ago. We communicated several years ago over that Ibanez Musician you're holding in you pic. I have the identical Bass, and with the exception of my starter training Echo bass, it's the only bass I've ever owned. I've gigged, recorded, live showed with it and it has been all things to all tracks. I call it my buddy. You take care, and thanks again.

Thanks for the review of Barcelona Intro - it's actually a cover of the introduction to the Freddie Mercury/Montserrat Caballe tune called Barcelona. Always loved that intro and wanted a crack at reproducing it. Came pretty close I think! Good luck with your music!

Could be me but I was having a hard time hearing out the lyrics over the instrumentation.
There's a coincidence Nigel , I received the same comment from Collaborations for one of my songs Nigel . Also , as i recall , I gave 5 stars for Stronger . Every part of the vocal was crystal clear .
As I said it could be me. Sometimes I have a hard time hearing the lyrics when there is a lot of instrumentation. I did really like the song

Hey guys thanks for the review of my instrumental Drab Chung - I appreciate the critique. It was inspired by two bands hence the title - Drab Majesty and Wang Chung. As you suggest it was written as an instrumental but I later recorded a vocal version called Rocket To The Sky. Thanks again and good luck to you :-)

Hello Steve - thank you for the review of my 'Film Score Idea' track - it's really badly recorded and not mixed well as you rightly identify - I recorded it after realising my old Yamaha SY88 synth was about to die and I'd yet to put it down for posterity so I recorded it as was before the synth died - still a work in progress. I'm hoping you found the review useful. I did generally suspect that was the subject of the song (or a modern version of it). I wouldn't necessarily go crazy based on my opinion, but I think that understatement works best when the real world situation is unambiguously communicated to the audience and possibly some of the listeners who would connect most readily are aging out. Hi Nigel, Thanks for your review of Like A Diamond and for your constructive comments. I take your point about the early chorus. In this case, the song was written to be performed to Cliff Richard on his Diamond Showbiz Jubilee, hence the story buildup and lots of choruses at the end for his fans to sing to him. Unfortunately, I was runner-up in the selection process so it never did get performed! I will certainly consider your advice if I get around to rehashing it at some stage. Much appreciated. Bob
Hi Nigel , thanks for reviewing TIME IS ON MY SIDE . A few conflicting scores that didn't match up with the comments , but never mind . I can't be blamed (or take credit) for the song itself , but i wish i was the writer . It's actually a cover of a Rolling Stones song from 1963 . If I remember correctly it was their first hit in America , think it made number 6 in the charts . Mind you , I was always more of a Beatles man myself . Take Care , Phil .

Thanks for the thorough review of Heart To Heart Nigel. It's fair comment about the song structure, I've changed it several times, mainly because it is too long when put together in the usual fashion. Apart from removing a chorus to reduce the length, the lyrics in the bridge mean that it can't be placed in the usual format, otherwise the story is compromised. However, the song was written more as a story than a commercial venture, it's also way off my usual beaten track, so really much is academic. Can't win 'em all! Thanks again, much appreciated. Bob
Hi Nigel - TNX for the review of 'So It's Not Love'. Yes - definitely that vintage feel! We recorded that in 1994, and the fabulous Lillias White, who did the vocals, then went on to win a Tony Award for her performance in Cy Coleman's 'The Life' on Broadway. Lillias is still killing it on theater and cabaret stages. She just did her cabaret act in London a few weeks ago. I'm a bit stuck in the 80s and 90s grooves myself....grin

You're welcome, Nigel. I liked those 80s songs as well. "One Night in Bangkok," "Life in a Northern Town," "Sanctify Yourself," the punk of Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, stuff I can't write or record...and I loved the fluffy, sugary ballads of the Carpenters and David Gates (my "Stay Here Now" reflects that), and the disco tinged songs of the Bee Gees (my collaboration with Robert Quigley on "You Can Feel It"). Robert and I have realized we've got to update our sound and go more towards EDM, so I've been teaching myself mix/mastering and we'll look more into those styles. I love the mix of New Age synths and the energy that EDM has. I'd say with your songwriting skills, your dream of having a pop artist record your songs is in your favor. Best to you, Nigel. I included you in my latest news (not that I have any kind of following) but maybe a few friends will drop on by to listen to your pieces. John
