Hi there , Mr. Michael-John, my name is Christian. I haven't been a pro member here since 2015 or so for a variety of reasons, as such I don't come back here too often, only to access my old tunes because I didn't back them up before I got rid of the studio gear there were recorded on ( sorry, btw I sometimes have difficulty with my self editing when it comes to writing...lol),.... ANYWAY, the site changes a lot and as a mini member I don't see an option for me to write reviews for the songs of other members I here I am. WHEW!.....I have listened to about 4 of your tunes, I think they're all very good but one in particular I really, really liked was ...shit now I forget the title and in worried if I leave this page to look, I'll lose all this brilliant narrative. I'm thinking your song I'm referring to is called, "embrace the darkness". It's an instrumental and it really rocks. The riffs are killer along with the main melody and solos. I had some other more specific comments but now I forget them now and I can't relisten right this moment due to the same fear mentioned above. As a fellow mostly one man band these days that does a lot of rock instrumentals I know how hard it is to write an instrumental that holds the listeners interest all the way through but you succeeded. I'm sorry this isn't the most cohesive comment but again, great song and the three others were very good too, particularly one where you have a male vocalist working with you who sounds a lot like Geoff Tate from Queensryche. Take care, Sir, keep on rockin and keep on sharing your excellent work with us all. I've been out of the music world for a while but I'm getting ready to come back so when I get some new stuff done, I'll likely become a pro member here again so maybe then I'll see how I can submit individual song reviews, and won't have to leave these novellas on your comments page. Christian PS, I think it would be cool if you added more specific info to your song pages and profile, particularly detailed performance, recording info, gear used, etc.
Hey. Christian, Thanks for the listens and the kinds words. Embrace The Darkness has vox on it. The vocalist is another BJ member Riq Turner. He's really a great writer and vocalist, stop by his page and check him out. Best, George
Hi Kevin
Love this tune!
nice music sir!
Hey Jeff. Thanks for reviewing my song shadow. I pretty much agree with all your comments. Btw, it was just one guy;-) . This song was a tryout of all my home studio stuff, and yeah, pure instrumentals are tough. I am used to writing songs for people to sing on and learned quickly, that for me, that's an easier job. But I can't sing so ,there ya go. ..lol.
Why don't you hook up with Austin Tyler? He might do some vocals for/with you. And his taste in sound is aligned with yours!
Hey all-two more tunes up. Freebies-just for fun and enjoyment-one is full on guitar bluesy sorta jam, and the other a solo, meditative piece. Hope you like. Cristian
I should perhaps clarify for you all and myself that my name is, "Christian", not "Cristian", as stated above. Soon, however, I hope to put an end to these all too common confusing situations when I legally change my name over to "Johnny One Finger", as it is long overdue. I will keep you all posted on that.
hey Christian,my thoughts and prayers are of you
"i have radial nerve palsy".....Holy shit, Christian, just saw your latest news post about this. This is a friggin catastrophe for you...how the heck did this happen? I did some google searching and saw a variety of ways that this can happen and also saw one medical website that said "This condition may go away over time or you may always have it." I'm praying you fall into the former category. Hang in there, bro. Nothing but good vibes your way.
thanks Jay. Yeah-devastating, indeed, I knew people like you would understand. i had written to my primary doc in between visits last week, basically saying that above all, we have to fix this, HAVE too, I explained that music is more than everything to me, and even attached clips( he's only known me for about 15 months). The next day in person, he said my email sounded manic, and accused me of being on drugs (off them and booze three years plus after very intense relationships with both), didn't sound like me , etc. I explained, that was the whole point, to tell him more about me as I feel that seeing me about 20 times for 15 mins a pop, doesn't really give him an idea of who I am as a person. He's fucked though..lol. I think he gave me a really whack, roundabout compliment, cause he said something like "people who have artistic genius can usually suffer from bipolar type mental illness". At that point, all patience vanished from my being and I just said " just fix my fucking hand, before I call a lawyer", and stormed out..lol, probably not helping my " im not manic argument". More blood tests, then I go back on weds. I don't know how it happened though, I think I saw the same thing as you, about how it may get better or how you may always have it. I really don't know what happened-I just woke up on day, and it was there. I have to say though with some happiness that it may be improving in that, i can sort of move each finger at mid knuckle-kind-of. When i have my hand hanging low at my side-not always but this is a very new development. before it was nothing. nothing at all. thanks alot for your well wishes. I came on here to listen and review some other peeps stuff then, I'm going to do some picking exercises and maybe get out the slide. I'm going to make a playlist soon for other BJ members songs I like, and that metal one of yours is going in there (can't remember the title, I'll find it though), it was actually the inspiration for me to start doing some of that kind of stuff on here. Peace bro.
Thank you for adding my song to your playlist, Ionut. I can tell by your pic that I am already interested in hearing your work. With all those keys at your fingertips, I can only imagine. So I am going to friend and follow you, so that I am able to find you again quickly. CMB I
Ahhhhhh. Apparently I already did that in the wee hours of this morning.
thanks so much for the endorsement & the 5*s on None...much appreciated!
You're welcome buddy. I really enjoyed the tune it was like what I expected to hear but not at same time. Great drum sounds and beat and a guitar tone the makes me long for my gibsons (not saying that was 100 % one, but definitely mahogany body, no maple cap.i know it was an esp (I'd keep going but I know you love it,gotta leave you wanting more. ..lol )I threw up a new old song too, the last real song from that set of instrumentals.but you know, it's great to hear you doing some heavy stuff.
Hi Jeff-thanks for the positive review of my song "Seconds". I hear ya about the drum sound in the first part and some of the fills sound like they're going to go of he rails..lol but if you read the description of thee tune, it was actually quite amazing, i had played everything an programmed a crappy neat, posted it yo a recording forum. Another memember there who was a drummer asked if he could play on it. This was back in 2004. I asked him what he was into as a drummer, he just replied "of i play in a Rush cover band". Normally in bands I'm a super anal control freak (or was back the, ive matured...a little). I just said "cool, if you can handle Neil Pert, I'm sure you can handle my drum machine". And that was it. I lived outside of boston, he in chicago. no phone calls, just a couple of emails. He sent his tracks back, and I heard what you did , but as a whole, i was blown away it was a million times better, at least a million. Really sounded like he was in the room with all of..um..me's. thanks again! Christian Matthew Berrian I.
Yeah I read your blurb on the tune after the review. It totally sounds like he was in the room playing.
digging your new profile pic, Christian - looks great!
Haha thanks Mr Jay Star. I love it too. That's my girl Kali Ba. I'm sure you can imagine that with all those arms and finger, the girl can play like nobody's business. ;-)
Also happy to see the bj site software knew better than to dare to turn her sideways like it does to my face all the time. ..lol
great song!
thanks which one did you listen too?
Shadow!
is it me, or did you have different name before. glad you like the song, sounds better since i remastered it
you should really check out my tunes, tblue
I will!
Hey everyone, I have uploaded a revised HD version of Bass Race in Space plus two other songs, "Shadow", and "Seconds". I threw "Seconds" into the anything goes bucket for the 6 pack, so please check them out. I hope you like them. Lots more songs will be uploaded over the next couple of days, instrumentals, and vocals. Thanks, Christian August, 20, 2015
Hello there , Ms Corkran, I just wanted to thank you for listening to my jam, bass race in space and giving it a 5 star rating. I was very pleased and humbled and honored, although I have not had a chance to check out your music yet I like your bio, and the output you have here is tremendous just judging from the magnitude of work. I can tell without hearing a thing, you clearly are the real f##k!n deal. So I am very honored. I hope you don't mind if I follow you , so I can check out your work .Again, thank you Peace to you and yours, Christian
Hi Christian, I really loved your bass race in space, and believe that you took that 'rock-it' to an all time high! Welcome to the site, and hope that you discover and enjoy the wonderful artistry of so many wonderful folks and different genres herein, and find yourself having fun with your own! Thank you for the connection, and all the best to you and your music! Peace, and I thank you! Cyndi
is she the real deal, I can sum that up in one simple word. "YES". . .
Cyndi really goes out of her way to experience and show appreciation to the talent around here. She's one of the good ones:)
Thanks Peter, like I said, I could just tell, wasn't asking ;-) . Usually. ...usually. ..with fellow musicians I can just tell. Usually. But every where else in life, can' even get close to a hunch. And while I'm rambling away, on poor Cindy's page, and have yet to listen to her music, I will share that I once was in the presence of one of my all time, jeez, I don't know what to call him, I was born in 1970, and my mom bought all this guy's music the day it was released and played in constantly, it is pretty much embedded in my DNA, so to say he's one of my favorites, idols, inspirations, heroes, etc, doesn't seem to say enough, well I am talkin about Steveland Morris aka Stevie Wonder, Omg. I do need to ask you our Cindy whether or not you love this man's work cause who the f doesn't. Anyway, so sorry to ramble, but I am very recently, um, separated from my wife and kids, so a little lonely at times, so I saw Stevie in 1980 hotter than July, it was awesome. Then at 15 in 85, I saw him again, and got to go back stage! ! Well, I'll tell you what Peter and Cindy, as soon as I walked into that room, ,I could feel something that I never had felt before, the energy, was indeed different electric, majic. I could absolutely feel it and I saw stevie sitting way on the other side of the room, of course I could tell he was emitting that energy, my 15 year old connciousness (sp? Mr smart phone offered no assist ), well I seriously was pondering if I was in the presence of a being from another world. Hang on Mr Admin, I'm almost done, let them read it, anyway ,the line moved very quick because lots of the females were passing out as they god closer. Then I was up, I told him how awesome the show was and I couldn't believe it when he played creepin, he thanked me in a very soft voice and seemed pleased or something, that a, I guess they call them deep album tracks, was enjoyed so much by me. Then I continued as one of the 6 400 lb body guards moved in my direction, "yeah stevie ' fullfillings ', maybe my favorite album of..og, dude, I couldn't believe it when you kicked into superwoman right out of that girl, that was amazing, but you only did the second half why? The first half is my favorite part, man, can you please just play the whole song next time. .lol I remember this like yesterday, then the body guard gets right in my personal space and instructs me to say good night to stevie, who now looking a little perplexed, said, yeah, thanks we'll do all of superwoman, next time we come here for you bye. Stevie could sr the body guard gently pushing me away. GOOD NIGHT STEVIE I FU÷=K $N, LOVE YOU. ...I LOOOOOVE YOU. 30 years ago, crazy. Cyndi, I hope you you appreciated my tale and if not you can delete it, and comes to my page post your songs vids whatever. I get a little carried away by a few things only, music, and when I'm playing, don't say word, but my big three are stevie w, zeppelin, and hendrix. So sorry. I sort of get nuts and being able to have that brief encounter with him, was a highlight of my life for sure. Peace.
Look at that, showed up on my page, took like an hour to do it n but there you go :-)
took a lifetime what you have experienced, loved and learned revealing you ain't done yet. welcome to the club. . . and, so very proud to learn about you!
Wow, Peter what a nice thing to say. Thanks so much. A perfect end to my time on the Internet for now anyway. Wow. Have a great weekend. Christian
Great history of musical experiences, Christian! Stevie Wonder, Led Zeplin & Hendrix, all favorites of mine and so many; I might add Pink Floyd, Al Green, Robin Trower, James Deware, only to name just a few. Great artistry is timeless, and affects generations, ad infininatum! Yes, I really appreciated you tale about musical experiences. We all have some great stories, do we not?! Keep your joy and wonderment over your music; keep your curiosity and faith, that what you're doing is what you love, for the sake of, doing what you love! That's the most important thing, and one that will get you through life's heartaches. It may not make any of us wealthy, but it will enrichen our lives, through expression, and the association with others, whom we respect, as musicians and friends. Thank you too, Peter and Nathaniel. My life has been enriched by you all! Peace and much universal love! Cyndi
Hey Starburst, I just noted recently, you gave my bass race in space a 5 star rating. I just wanted you to know I am honored and humbled. Made my day. Thanks, so much, I am without a reliable internet connection at the moment but once resolved, I'll be back. Seriously, much gratitude. Peace, Christian
My pleasure Christian. I know you told me the track is 10+/- yrs old but clearly demonstrates remarkable musicianship!
Thanks my friend, very much. Now where am I? I get even more lost, on my phone. But like I said I'll be back, first there is another person to thank. Someday I will share with you just how much your digging the jam came just at the perfect time. :-)
I look forward to hearing the story!
Hey starbust, I'm new hear I have one old, old tune up, I'm wondering, are you strictly publishing or what, you 're local, I used to be local to you when , well, along time ago when Boston was an out of control rock and Roll town, You go beyond publishing? You have a very eclectic "sounds like" so you caught my eye. As I said, I'm pretty new here, and tiring to figure out what this place is all about before I start posting my gold, for now I'm going to through up some studio stuff, instrumental, I play everything (well not drums at the moment-no kit), and fancy myself a producer as well but not an engineer, however, big difference between the two, you looking for just songs, studio cats, whats up? i need a sugar daddy. Old lady done tossed me out again. But I work, man hard, well its been tough as i bounce around from hotel room to hotel room. I kno I have written three hits this past summer, well I say "I" but cant take full credit as I dream a part of one, and "channeled", if you will,l parts of others, was quite the summer, but I don't think this is the place to be posting them. Not arroagance, my the exerience I had, was a gift, otherworldly, freaked the woman out, as she's a singer herself, and a guitar player, writer, but not like me, who when gets the zap can stay up all night long writing practicing , whatever, man, b ut If you like bass guitar-not my primary, please check out bass race in space, i just improved a jam and built around it. sorry for all the yaking but I've been away from music for too long, but as I mentioned I'm looking for work, but work I love, i saw your lyric thing, but i didn't see where you listed what kind of vibe you were looking for. me personally can give you stones, stevie w, soundgarden, sade, slayer. I'm all over the place. anyway, peace. oh yeah, main instrument guitar-all of it, rock based I guess, playing for long time, thats if you ever need a certain vibe in the studio. don't know peaceChristian
Thanks for reaching out, Christian. Bass Race in Space is phenomenal, as is the instrumental musicianship on your Souless video. Please check your mail box for a more detailed response.
thanks my man, i just replied to your comment, somewhere, hmm. this site still puzzles me, but like I mentioned, lots of transitions going on for me right now. but thanks. did I writie I was checking some of your stuff in the other comment? cause I meant to, quite the extensive catalog you have. I'm out in western mass now, but my heyday was all boston, baby, so I'm observing how my fellow brethren are conducting themselves hear. that means you, and you seem to be droppin lots of stuff, so that seems like a real positive. But alas, I listen to just a couple of your things so far, seems like you don't need any session players..but. Also keep in mind, these tracks are 10 years old, I hope I have grown since then, I don't know. Peace and thank you
A Man of Many Words He's a man of many words, unable to condense Lost his edit functionality so many years past tense The gift of gab has burdened him like manure on the shoe Sometimes his family just ignores this red-faced blustering fool (chorus) A child of god the preacher says, be kind and do not laugh Let he who has no sins at all balance upon this staff He speaks he does with bated breath with wonder all around A man of many words he is this colorful sweet clown He's a man who spits prodigiously with every passing word Can't seem to speak a dryer sound than slippery absurd A hard time making friends, let alone special romance He's a spitting, spewing prophecy all over his own pants (chorus) A child of god the preacher says, be kind and do not laugh Let he who has no sins at all balance upon this staff He speaks he does with bated breath with wonder all around A man of many words he is this colorful sweet clown (instrumental break) (chorus) A child of god the preacher says, be kind and do not laugh Let he who has no sins at all balance upon this staff He speaks he does with bated breath with wonder all around A man of many words he is this colorful sweet clown
...say what???
Sounds like too many talking heads/politicos in the media. I think everyone has a relative (or ten) who also meet that description.
whoa - someone you know. . .
whoa - someone we might know. . .
Yeah pretty cool, Is from your contest? Sorry man, life transitions one after another, cant read the fine print. I feel two very different strong paths this song could go down. What is sin though? Do you know? I think I have an idea, but I wont write because it might offend some. I think you know as you speak of all the false prophets. Did you every read the lost Essenne Gospel of Jesus, you should check it on youtube, may be the real deal, may be note but I founf what Jesus said in those about those who teach of God, pretty interesting, you can easily see why if its real, the cut it out, along wiht all kinds of other stuff. But I'll stop. Peace
as an atheist, i abhor how politicians and organized religions attempt to dictate morality to the masses, all the time propping themselves up as the arbiters of proper behavior and belief systems - they are the false gods themselves
