Thanks, Benjamin - it's always great to hear some encouraging words from a fellow composer! I'm trying to keep up with the pros, meaning you, and some of these other really talented composers here. It's tough, but maybe I'll get there eventually. It feelsl like I'm not even halfway there yet. And of course, I love your work, you already know that. :-) Best of luck with your placements as well, Benjamin! /Christian

Hello Timothy!

Congrats to your latest film placement for "Various Cinematic Instrumentals"!
I had a track under consideration as well for that opportunity, and I'm happy that, at least, someone from the Broadjam community got it! :-)

Best Regards & Good Luck with future opportunities!
/Christian

Thanks so much, Christian! This is the first time my music has been selected, and I've been on Broadjam for nearly 2 years. I can't wait to hear officially from the people doing the film! So keep trying. I'll check out your music soon:)

Hehe... I guess it must be really exciting, so enjoy the ride! I have had some pickups from libraries and cable tv channels here, but nevery any "cash deal" like this. Still looking forward to that. But at another site, I've had two TV placements within the last month - very lucky, I guess. Those placements got me some sync fees, although much smaller than this one (both

Both less then $100, but they will hopefully give me some royalty payouts. Here on Broadjam it's really hard to land the deals since the competition is so hard (but the reward is often higher). So many great music writers here. All right, time to get back to work.
Take care & Keep up the good work!

Hi Christian, listened to 3 of your tracks. I like all of them, but I think Abandoned Place of Melancholia is my favorite! It is disturbing and haunting and lush in a good way! Nice textures! I noticed you are from Lund, Sweden. I have been there! I played "Woof" in a European tour of the musical "Hair" awhile back. I loved Sweden! That's great that you have landed some things already with your music. Thanks for sharing your experiences with it. It helps to know what other talented composers are going through. Thanks so much for your interest and support. Cheers, Tim

Ah, so you've been to Lund! Wow, it's a small world! :-) ... I've been to the States a couple of times as well - fantastic country, wonderful people.

I liked this "Noisy Neighbours" song a lot, so it would be cool to follow your submissions here on Broadjam. I'm not here that much except when submitting on opportunities, but it's always nice with some friends here. :-)

By the way, feel free to check me out at "www.craze.se" if you're curious. I write mostly in the acoustic genre, but I have a few songs in the electronica genre as well (but they are nothing compared to your songs :-)

Best Regards
/Christian

Very cool song, "Noisy Neighbors" - I give it five stars! Heavy, surprising - plain ear candy! Grats for selection to Trailer Production Facility! :-)

Hey Christian-

I enjoyed your new song "Glory To The Brave One".

Well done.

Thanks a lot Benjamin! I think it's my best so far in that genre, but on the other hand, it could be the typical illusion of "I-have-just-finished-a-new-song-an d-it's-my-coolest-ever", and after a week, I will be more sober in my judgement. :-)

Hello Benjamin!
You are fantastic! You are landing so many deals here and your music is just great. It's really cool to see that skill means something - not just luck. It's not just random artists that win the deals. Your name is turning up again and again, and THAT is well deserved, my friend! Congrats to all your selected songs here (I am sure we will see it happen many times again), and keep up the good work! /Christian Andersson

Greetings Christian-

I extend my humble thanks.

Thanks a lot for your review of "Dark Tidings". I remember when I was finished with it, I was not super happy, but it has grown with time. If I would polish it today, I'd work on the mastering a bit more. Ok, so now, of course, I will review some of your songs! :-)

"Dear Christian,

Congratulations! It is my honor and pleasure to personally inform you that the song "The Raving World Orchestra" has won Third Place in the Instrumental category in the 2010 International Songwriting Competition. With over 15,000 entries from 115 countries, this is a remarkable achievement, and ISC and its judges applaud the skill and dedication to the craft of songwriting that this win has proven. "

Thank you, ISC! I am overwhelmed!

I just recently joined another submission site... no names... but it start's with "T" and ends with "AXI". I didn't want to miss any good opportunities, and I had heard a lot about that site. But I was a bit disappointed. For my music style, there were not so many opportunities. And regarding the look and feel and the layout, they seem to be way beyond BroadJam. To me it seems like you guys keep investing in improvements of this site. A lot has happened since I joined last fall, and things keep getting better. You also have a great and helpful support team with short response times. So, thank you for being, to my knowledge, the best and most professional artist-to-music-industry opportunity provider on the market. There's no way I'm leaving this site. :-)

Christian, Thanks for your nice comments. Not only do we try and provide a wide and diverse selection of opportunities, we take the same approach to features as well. We understand that not everyone will get licensed using our system, so we continue to add other features that improves the experience on Broadjam. Stay tuned, lots more good stuff coming. Thanks again for your nice comments and best of luck...Roy

Thank you for your connection, Patty. I listened to some of your tracks and I can hear you really have the knowledge to produce tracks suitable for film. Actually, my own weaknesses becomes very obvious when I listen to your tracks... which is kind of bittersweet. :-) ... I often tend to write very melodious tracks that attracts attention... which can be good for title tracks... but... my tracks are often not good enough for title tracks, and not enough underscore-background-like to be tracks playing during the film. So I really need to improve my skills for both of those scenarios.
Happy Eastern Holidays!

Wow, so you're both a surgeon and a brilliant composer. I'm impressed! How can you find the time? :-) I was software engineer at Ericsson in Sweden, but then fell madlessly in love with Cubase and all those fantastic instruments, so I had to quit my job and start composing full time. :-) I'll be taking a closer look at your songs soon. Best Regards / Christian

Hey Christian, I listened to Dark Tidings today. Wow. You are the real deal. I live here in Madison, Wisconsin close to Roy. We are friends. I think your compositions are amazing and the use of the libraries is phenomenal. I am a piano guy. I have to say my use of orchestral libraries is simply beginner. I would love to collaborate with a guy like you on some of my bigger pieces. I use Logic. I have a Steinway B in my studio. I use top end mics and have 35 years of theory behind me. I am working on a big number now that could use some help. I wonder how you feel about collaborations. I am an ASCAP composer and have an ASCAP publisher membership as well. My company has worked with the world's largest libraries and I have nice accounts producing royalties. All that aside, I just would love to work with somebody with some chops as serious as mine on the piano. If you need to get a reference on me, just ask Roy Elkins. Have a great day.

Hello Adam!

Thanks a lot for your very kind words. Actually, I remember I wasn't very fond of Dark Tidings while I worked with it, but I've licensed it a couple of times, and I'm also really glad to hear that you like it!
By the way, I've been to Wisconsin once - Green Bay. We have some friends there. It's a really great and beautiful state, and I would love to go there again one day.
Thanks a lot for all your very kind words of my arrangements. I use Cubase 4 + a big bunch of different VST-instruments.... and actually, it feels like I have just begun to scratch a little on the surface. The big problem is time. I mean, we live here on Planet Earth for only 65-80 years when there's so much wonderful music to write... I need at least 200 more years! :-)
Actually, I feel like a beginner - you've got 35 years of theory behind you, and also having a Steinway B in your studio - that's truly fantastic! Music has been a great part of my life ever since I was a child, but when it comes to composing, I am mostly self-taught. Also, I'm not a good piano player, so if you need help with that, you got the wrong guy. :-)
However, I have a good knowledge about harmonies and it feels like I've got a natural way of finding interesting harmonies and building up an orchestral setting around a melody, and also knowing where in my library that I can find good instruments. I think that's my strength. So when it comes to ideas and inspiration around a musical arrangement, and maybe how to utilize a full orchestra of virtual instruments together with your composition, I might be of help. Maybe I can come up with some ideas and find some potential that you haven't thought of. Would that be useful to you?

I have never been part of a music collaboration projects before, probably because I'm still quite new as a professional composer, but if you believe that I could help you out in some way, it would be really interesting to give it a shot. And if this was not what you were looking for, no problem at all. It's always nice to chat with talented composers, like you, on this kind of forums, and I will definitely check out your work. I am sure I have a lot to learn.

Best Regards & Happy Eastern Holidays
/Christian

Hello Roy!
I must say I'm happy that I found this site. I will soon explain why. I just got some really cool news: I was selected as finalist in the Great American Song Contest!
So, summing up the first part of this year....
- Finalist in Great American Song Contest (1.600 competing songs from 44 countries)
- Finalist in International Songwriting Competition (15.000 competing songs from 115 countries)
... AND... the funny thing is that my finalist place in ISC was thanks to BroadJam! I had posted 6 songs directly to the ISC site. Then, at the end of the year, I had one new song... so I found the possibility to post it to ISC directly from BroadJam. I did that... and THAT last 7th song was the song that took me to the Finalist position in International Songwriting Competition. Thanks for being a great partner, guys!

Hello Roy!

Thanks for a great site. This is the first site I've seen where I can find many interesting opportunities and where the submission fee is OK from an indie artist perspective.
It's also great with the peer-to-peer rating competitions where we get a chance to listen to each others work and vote for the best songs, and at the same time, there is a small chance to get back the submission fee.

Best Regards & Keep up the good work!
/Christian Andersson

Christian, Thanks for the note and feedback, it's appreciated. We are always looking for ways to improve, especially if we can provide a more cost effective service for our members....The review mechanism certainly shows how others might interpret the opportunity. Although it's not required, many members have told us they feel listening to other submissions has helped them improve.....Glad you're enjoying it and thanks for being a member.....Roy
