American Music Works, thanks for the number choices of your review of my song "Thank God the Word is Coming True". Be Blessed, Mike
You're welcome.
Greetings. Thanks much for taking time to review Requiem For A Gunfighter. You're spot on about the recording quality. I did it on a digital 4-track in my living room, and everything was pretty much one pass. It was delibrate, going for an audio veritae, sort of folky, field recording feel to it, but it's pretty low fidelity. I do appreciate the feedback.
Thanks for your review of my song; 'Hands' which was pretty much my own view too. I also agree 100% with your standpoint on the problem of giving honest reviews. I have had quite a few very unpleasant e.mails from people on here who cannot accept an honest constructive review in the spirit it was given. But now we have a new twist. There is a guy on here who just seems to be flooding everyone with 50/50 reviews containing all the same 'praise'. Utterly pointless.
Thanks. We also received a lot of emails from people who thought we should have given them higher ranking. We were at a point to where we stopped commenting and then we decided that wasn't fair to people like ourselves who appreciate honesty. So we decided that we could comment and let people get upset or we could review ONLY songs we liked and for the ones we didn't like, we'd just cancel out of the review. We decided to review all songs and so far it has done well.
ty for your review of "waitin for a train", your comment that "the vocals are not bluesy enough for the song" is probably true since I am a writer not a singer.
Maybe if you drop the key of the song that might do the trick. Another trick is, try singing it after you've been awake for 20 hours...your voice will get that deep blusey sound naturally.
Hey folks, thanks for the review - melody line/lyrics in the works! ALways good to hear honest opinions about my music. Chiz and good luck.
You're welcome. It's too bad more 'broadjam' artists aren't like you and want "honesty". Good luck!
Thanks for the positive comments in your review of "Traversing the Spectrum". You've quite clearly missed the lyrical point and content of the song by suggesting an obvious alternative song title. Unlike many others, we dont need a pat on the back or to hear how great we are, that's what Dr. Phil's for... As for there being no market for classic rock and after careful consideration of your uplifting feedback, we've decided to call it quits and pursue our other dream of becoming a Creed covers band. Do you know any good Scott Stapp's?
And this is EXACTLY why we stopped commenting on people's music.... Good luck.

Everybody needs a good laugh now and then :-)
thanks for the review of "you and me" which to be fair was a good review, not just the scoring but the comments. glad to see you are reviewing normally again as with all my stuff, they are nicely recorded demos designed to give a singer the outline of the song, style and music
You're welcome. We are trying to treat every artist the same and not be too critical and cause an uproar. As artists, we here at AMW love to have people rip our work apart and tell us what is wrong with it; hwoever, some artist just want the pats on the back and to hear how great they are. Keep up the good work you're doing!
hey AMW-my friend/sharon hope robinson/has a few good tunes you might want to check out,she is on my top song play list-being me and savor my flava are a couple that i like/peace-joe.
Thanks for the information...We will check her out tomorrow. Thanks again!
Please, please give comments on songs. You've reviewed two of my songs. One gave me useful infomation which I can use. The second had a 'no comment' statement. This second message in of no use to me. I need to know what works, what doesn't work and how to improve. Thank you David James
We love leaving comments on songs. We had to stop because so many artist were upset because we didn't rank them high enough. Here is some comments for your song: Scheherazade (Arabian Nights)... The song is really good. I think I would change the vocal during the verses. There needs to be added a sense of mystery to this song and you can accomplish that by whispering the vocals during the verses but leaving the vocal during the chorus unchanged. This is just a theory, but we here at AMW think it could change the song a lot by doing this. During the chorus, you can layer a few whispering tracks and add them to the vocal tracks you currently have already. This will give a mystic feel to the song and this is what we think the song could use to separate it from just being an average track. By the way, you did some really good work on this song; keep up the good work!
AMW. I have to say that your review of my song Father of Lies is the most astute and intelligent review I have received yet (despite the "no longer leaving comments thing). In fact the song is a scratch track and is meant to give people a taste of what the musical will be like. Once it is recorded properly, it is going to be an awesome piece of music. Cheers always.
I totally agree. We cannot wait to hear more from you. Keep up the good work!
I noticed you were particularly interested in female vocalists. I'm working with an awesome one right now. Check out the rough recordings Death Cannot Hide and Circles. Once the album is done she is going to be a hot commodity.
Thanks for the tip. We will review this artist later today and let you know what we think. Thanks
The beyond moronic comments about "honesty" cracked me up.....so basically what you're saying is 'your way or the highway'................ When did God annoint you with this 'power'?' Anyway, Broadjam will not let you get away with this...........as a senior member of this site, I can assure you that you will hear from them!
Okay, you want a review of your music - you'll get it.
Ok, We listen to your song again and here are the comments: The vocal is good but not for Jazz. The mix is lacking and so is the instrumentation. There really is not much of a hook in your song. Overall, the vocice should be singing a different style, something more like Sinatra. So is this a good enough review for you or would you like for us to continue?
Also, making threats on here is, I am should, against Broadjam's policy. Just FYI. :)
That's not a threat, its a promise....when you grow up, you may understand the difference, although, in your case, I doubt it!
Mr. Pulin, We tried to be fair with you and it is obviously not what you were looking for. So please do yourself a favor and save yourself a lot of frustration by getting out of the music business now. We rated listen to your song (5 of us) and we did so as a group. Unfortuantely, you didn't like it becuase we didn't list the good and bad points. So we listened to your song, yet, again and listed the good and bad points and you still are not happy. I'm sorry, but we just do not think you deserve all 5 stars on your music. I'm not sure what more we could tell you or what advice we can give you. The music business is tough and you have to be able to handle both good and bad criticism of your music otherwise you are doomed. So good luck with your music career and best wishes.
Thank you for your review. Your comment about no longer giving comments was funny. Okay maybe my song wasn't the best but one person liked the melody. Thanks again.
We actually were commenting on reviewed songs but more times than not, people would not like the comments, so we stopped. Now everyone is complaining that we're not giving them any comments, so maybe we'll write one positive comment and one negative comment and use it for everyone. The problem is, some of these "so called" artists put a song on here thinking it is the greatest song in the world and when someone, like us, is actually honest and tells them it is not great, they get upset. Being an artist requires having thick skin and as soon as we discover that someone doesn't have that, we make sure not to associate with them anylonger. Any real songwriter in touch with reality just wants to know what is bad with their song so they can fix it. These fake songwriters just want everyone telling them how great they think they are. We don't and will not do that.
Thanks for your thoughtful review of "She's on her own". Helpful comments. My songs are demoed, so the vocals are a little more up front. Should I have that changed altered for other songs that I am working on? I wonder what you would think of Laughter in the hallway and God's big backyard--when you get the time. Thanks again...very helpful! Matt
You have a great voice from what I remember. However, we listen to songs at both loud and soft volumes and when we turn down the volume on your song , we heard nothing but the vocal. We're not saying that is a bad thing overall. However, we think you should be able to hear all parts of the song at all levels of volume. We will make it a point to listen to you other songs and give you feedback on them as well. We listen to over 1000 songs a week, so it is hard to get to everyone. Thanks
Unerstood, thank you!
i had a lot of fun with trophy blues,i think roger miller would have liked it-king of the road-or jerry reed/thanks-joe.
I agree. It would have been perfect for Roger. Someone here in our listening panel also mention Joe Stafford as being good with your song.
jim stafford/spiders and snakes-then there was /ray stevens-i don't hear those kind of fun songs anymore/peace-joe.
Thanks for the name correction! Jim Stafford, not Joe. I had "Joe" on the mind, I guess. I agree. There are no really good fun songs anymore for kids to listen to as when we were kids.
thanks for the nice review score of my song/the prettiest girls are in tennessee/now listen to luke bryans fairly new song/rain is good/he has a nice video on cmt of it also,i wrote this crazy song after sitting in with gretchen wilson at tootsies orchid lounge one afternoon downtown nashville tn.she was performing her red neck woman song at the thime/peace-joe.
You're welcome. This was a really liked song amoung our crew here. I believe if this song got into the right hands, it would do very well. Unfortuanely, we couldn't come up with a artist to send it to for you. If we do and you need a publisher on this song, we'd definately shop it for you.
Thanks for reviewing Palomino Pony. The truth will set me free. Lay it on me:-). Best, jay
One of our staff was listening and said this sounds like it would be about a horse before we knew that it was. It reminded us of an old song called "Wildfire". If you haven't heard, give it a listen. Out of curiosity, do you have a publisher for this song?
I do not, but its being plugged by Steve Sharp of Sharp Objects in Nashville. I wrote it specifically with Keith Urban in mind. Its being shopped around, but so far, no takers.
Let us know if you need anything. Thanks.
OK, thank you.
The truth is always welcome here, constructive comments can only strengthen the product. Peace & Love, God Bless.
We totally agree!
I really appreciate your review of my song. I am working on several songs that I've written and hope to have at least another song to upload soon; it's just very difficult finding the time and resources to get my music done in a timely manner.
