Essence Files is derivative sure but its so "late night driving around in the city".
Mad Martyr is very hypnotic. I wanted to download it for my road soundtrack on my trip through the desrt Thursday but the drums were overpowering. I'll try the other ones.
I like When's It Gonna Stop. Does the guy who mixed this song live near Irvine? I need a professional to do some mixing. Hal Taylor
Is it the band version or solo?
The band version.
I connected with ... Roanoke because I went to school in that area-- Virginia Tech-- even though you were just passing through. Great example of mining a trivial personal experience for lyrical gold.
I just saw this...been away for some time. Thanks for the kind words. This song is extremely personal to me. It was on my way back from a great week that I had this AHA moment...
I listened to all your songs per the Nicks Fuse recommend. And I connected with Even You but I wish there was some way of following along with a lyric sheet. Surprised there haven't been more plays given the quality and fan base in H'wood.
Thanks much more to come!
Hi Neighbor, I loved I'll Be Your Moonlight. Some achievement for a 17 year old. I'm curious. Was that production done locally? Hal in Irvine
Hello neighbor:) Thanks so much for the sweet comment! All the songs off my album Highwire (which includes I'll Be Your Moonlight) were recorded in Los Angeles, so pretty local I guess haha! My producer took the project to a cool little place in a very strange part of town in El Monte - called Pacific Western Recorders. It's a bit of a hole in the wall, but I loved it, and the sounds we got there came out pretty major-label if you don't mind me bragging lol! I know, I'm only 17, but I've been at it for 3 years now, and have been lucky enough to meet some very talented young guys who really know what they're doing. Plus, I work like a demon no joke! Anyway, I love it and I can tell you do too from the cool sounds on your profile:)
I was mesmerized by Lullaby for Claudia. It was just like opening a music box.
Thanks for listening and for taking the time to comment. I appreciate that. - Jill
Hal, man. Beautiful job on One, son! I gently suggest you change it to Pop-Lullaby so you can give me some competition. Sending you a Friend request to see if I can help you come into the Light. St. Nick
Thanks for the positive feedback. I didn't even know I was in that genre maybe because the only pop lullaby I could think of was "Good Night" from the White Album. Since lullaby's are more melody driven I'll definitely be spending time there listening. As for the song "One" the lyric is sung just before going to bed so it's definitely lullaby. Thanks for the tip off. Hal
Beautiful voice and beautiful instruments. I feel both you and your music! keep it up!
Hi SpecifiX, Thanks a lot for your great review on our song; "This Is From Us To You" Sometimes it amazes me to see how things can really be, look and sound similar. People from different continents might wear a stunning resemblance yet none of their parents met. I think music is no different. After all great minds think alike, not so? This song was written specifically for the bank ad where 50 year old parents are seeing their daughter off on honeymoon. The hook is built around that. If you can tell us what you wanna do with the lyrics of the hook, we got no problem sending them to you. We got lot's of great lyrics. Let's start by becoming friends first. One day we might even collaborate. God bless!
I just wanted to confirm what I heard lyrically in the chorus was what you actually sang. Surprised that it is a commercial since it is long. One other bank commerical song made it as a world wide hit. Do you know what it is?
Thanks for the review of ''That Heart Was Mine''......just a tip, don't get too hung up on words having to be deep and meaningful, sometimes they need to be, other times not. This is a very simple song, based on emotion and simple statement, it wouldn't work using 'clever' metaphors, other songs i have written do....this one, no. Thanks again
It is unfair to members to have their songs reviewed without the accompanying text of lyrics. Lyrics are misunderstood if not imaged well in the mix. A text box with the lyrics on the review page would help.
Hi SpecifiX - thanks for reviewing Here & There. Much appreciated. regards, Till
Hey... thanks for a nice review on LIGHT YEARS AWAY. It's pretty spot on...an old tune of mine done as a collaboration with a lyricist. I agree about the lyrics... some nice imagery but not very linear. I am proud of the production. I think this might have a chance as incidental music on a show or movie if lyrics aren't important as the vibe.
hi there, thanks for your review of Lost Angel & I thank you for your time & effort as well...
Hi, thanks for reviewing my song "these are the days". Everything you say is true.I need to completely re-do the song. Thanks. Tony from nz
