Kathy, I so apologize if my friend request was duplicated several times!! A glitch in the system I guess!! I recently moved to Lufkin, love your music. Especially, "A Part of Me." Lovely song! Marie Jarreau
Welcome to East Texas! I think you will enjoy the music here. Do you have a website?
Hi Kathy, Happy to hear from you. Don't have a website, but a blog page: The Cobblestone Muse. Still relevant information there but it's in dire need of being updated. I've been too busy "living life" to keep at it!ðŸ' Youll find tis bits of info about who I am. My music can be sampled here on BroadJam: Marie Jarreau. The most recent album titled: SideTracked. I hope you have a minute to take a peek there. One of my song s just got selected, thru BroadJam for airplay on April 5th. That song "Amelia" is a tribute to my hero , historic aviator Amelia Earhart. They should send me details about where to listen doon. I'll share that with you and others when I get it. Are you performing in the Local area or do you primarily compose and record? Regards, Marie
I work with a new acoustic group, and we will be performing in the area, soon. Look for NicNacs. We do a lot of oldies. Folk/pop, Country, Americana and Blues.
Sounds like my own music interests. I'll be watching for your performance notices, or please add me to your list if that's something you use for folks interested.
Hi again Kate, Just saw your review of my rendition of Diamonds and Rust. WOW! Your words are so encouraging! Thank you so very much. I love the music of Ms Joan Baez. Never thought I'd ever be able to perform this tune but with the help of my friend and music mentor that dream has come true. Thank you again for your encouragement. I'll keep trying :0) Marie
Kate, You have listened to and reviewed some of my music in the past. I have recently added an album to BJ. When you have the time, please have a listen. Thanks, Norb Studelska
Hi Kate, Thank you so much for your helpful review of Polar Bear Christmas Time. I do appreciate you taking the time to listen there and to offer you thoughts, several of which I'll work to incorporate into this lively little holiday tune. Regards, Marie
You are welcome!
Dear Marie, nice song, good lyrics and your voice works well with the material! May I make a small suggestion, bring your vocal a tad forward in the mix, so one will be able to hear your wonderful lyrics!! Gave you 5 Stars & Likes. Your tune has the folk feel of Gordon Lightfoot's, Edmond Fitzgerald! Are you familiar with that Canadian Singer and his incredible song?? Happy Trails....... Margie & Art Corey
Hi Margie and Art, Thank you so much for your kind words. Especially for taking the time to offer some tips. I'm fairly new to BroadJam in that I haven't had time to visit the site as often as I would've liked to. However just retired two weeks ago and so will be much more active here. Perhaps it's my experience with the site but I can't see which of my songs you were referring to. You mentioned Gordon Lightfoot's Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - yes one of my favorites. I've already begun to spend more time in my production studio and so will work to follow your suggestion of bringing the vocals a little more forward. But please let me know which of the songs you're referring to - perhsps Return To The Sea? It's one of my "favorite music children" LOL Again thank you so very much. I look forward to chatting with you more as I prep more of my tunes to add here. Do you folks have music on board here? Regards, Marie
Marie, yes it's your song, "Return To the Sea"! Looking forwarding to making suggestions to each other's music! Happy Trails.... The Corey's We should be connected now.....Margie & Art Corey Broad Jam
Hey, Click the link below and submit your music for rotation on our radio station to over 2million listeners and website visitors. http://www.collegeundergroundradio.com/index.php/stuff/get-on-the-playlist 1 How you where referred select my name Martin get back to me after your submission.
I really like this song. The lyrics and the instrumental play and melody really sing. My only critique is that the volume of the drums with reference to placement in the song feels too loud.
Hi Marie, Thank you for liking my song. I'm so glad. You're right about the drum volume. I'm currently looking for serious players in Colorado to jam and record with. I'll post the new stuff soon. Kind of thinking about an unplugged version.
Marie, I have listened to your song on both my Iphone and computer, both with earphones on... on my phone your words were very hard to hear...my computer was better...the mike you are using makes for your voice to be very soft...if that is what you were going for then it works but if you want your words clearer than maybe a different mike...I love the story it's great, your musical background is perfect for the song...This is what I would have written if I had gotten this for review...I gave 5* for the song because I loved the story line...I listened to Wayfaring stranger and had the same results in the vocal softness on my phone with earphones on... that is why I felt it maybe your mike... I hope this helps...your friend in music.
Delta, this was EXTREMELY helpful! This one IS yet a work in progress and I'll certainly pay heed to the mic with the next mix. Thanks so much for your time. Looking forward to more music conversation in coming monthsðŸ'‹ Marie
Glad it helped.
Hi Bob, Just a note to let you know that AT LONG LAST I've finally gotten a chance to upload a new song to my BroadJam Playlist! RETURN FROM THE SEA. Take a listen and do take a look at the song description for its origin. I'd love to know your thoughts o this. When I retire in January I'm looking forward to focusing more on my music AND being much more active on BroadJam. So lots more music to be finished and uploaded. Please share with friends and family if you find the music worthy :0) Marie
Hi Marie, Forgive me but have you got the right person, I'm trying to recall how we may have been in touch before?
Hey Bob, Its been nearly a year since I'd done anything on BROADJAM so I simply went to the list of folks in my Contacts and your info was included. I DO SINCERELY APOLOGIZE if this was an error on my part! Pleases do forgive me I won't trouble you again! A very infrequent visitor here, I'm still trying to learn the BroadJam process and protocol. Regards, Marie
Absolutely no apology required or expected Marie. Put it down to my years but I couldn't find you in my contacts, song reviews etc. Will check out your music later. Bob
Hi Marie, Have just listened to Return From The Sea. Like Delta, not only did I struggle to hear the lyrics, and therefore the story, the entire production is incredibly low gain. I had to turn up volume controls big time just to make out the music. This is a shame because I really like the melody and the sea folk feel of the song. (It is also quite tough on the ears if you forget to turn the volume down before listening to something professionally recorded!) Having read the lyrics, I realise that they are also very high quality. As far as I can tell, your voice really suits the style as well. Please don't take any of this as a criticism because the real strength of BJam is being able to get opinions and advice from other people's experience. When all's said and done it is only my opinion and I'm as fallible as everyone else!! I'm assuming you record at home but I obviously don't know your method. It sounds like you might be recording everything at once by placing a mic nearby and singing and playing - as if live? If there is any way you can record each element separately and then mix them you could get a higher gain in each section and subsequently a louder track overall. I want to emphasize that I really like the song but it could be so much better if the technical side could be improved. Lots of luck, Bob.
Dearest Bob, I can't tell you how much I do value your feedback here and the technical insight you've shared. Yes, this is why I've come to BroadJam, I understand the environment is primarily about artists helping artists to improve their musical craft. Thats exactly how I see your communication here and I appreciate your taking the time to share that with me. I do record at home and actually did record each element separately BUT working with Cubase 5 production software is a "part-time" learning experience. Return From The Sea IS a work in progress and I am planning to work on this more after getting some input just like what you've shared here. I'm very anxious to reach retirement in Jan. to really begin to work on the music. Thanks again Bob, I'd be happy to share the re-mix with you when that one comes about in coming weeks, if you like. That still may NOT be the final mix as I know I have much to learn :0)
Hi Marie, We all have much to learn! Just ask if there is anything I can help with. I look forward to your next mix. Bob
:0) Okey doke :0)

Thank you sweet lady!
Thanks for liking my song and the 5 star rating! You got a placement on Women of Substance too! They are a great venue and that is wonderful for you! Congrats!
Been on there three times!!!
Here you go again! Did you intentionally put Ray Charles, Eric Clapton and Robert Johnson in that paper bag to shake it up for this bluesy-brew? Nicely done!! Marie
Hello Marie! Thank you for the nice comments. I wish I knew what songs you've been listening to... Those are some mighty big influences you're listing there! Yeah...they're all there...along with Gregg Allman, Joe Cocker, Eric Burdon and more. What goes in must eventually come out!
WOW Derrick! In the first line I could hear the Ray Charles influence in your vocals and music! Nothin' more to say my friend. You nailed it!!! More, more, more! Marie
Teri, What a lovely tune! Pleasantly encouraging. Nice vocal work here, I'm looking forward to listening to more of your tunes. Thanks for sharing :o)

Marie, Thank you for the comment on the review for Summertime...it surly is the classic sound....I do have a contemporary version you might like to give a listen....again thank you. a friend in music
Delta, so nice to find your message here. Just got home from work. First day back after 35 days of neing on furlough - yep I'm one of those federal employees. No serious personal impact for me but I worry about others with young families! Ok, nuff of that - my music helped me keep my sanity. I'd love to hear ypur other version of 'SummerTime.' Didnt see it in your BroadJam playlist. Good Wishes, Marie
Anytime, It is the #25 on my list down called Contemporary, let me know what you think... and glad your back to work... so sorry things are so messed up... it hurts my heart.
Thank you very much for adding my version of Diamonds and Rust to your playlist. I've had a listen to your own and found some very nice pieces there, My favorite being Northern Sky. I too have a musical work with that title, but have not yet made it ready to upload. It's yet a work in progress. I also like acoustic version of Promises2Funk, a very nice island feel. Good wishes, Marie
Thanks Marie.
