Big Boot Dance aim to appeal to people who give the trendy club scene a wide berth, who avoid TV 'talent' shows, who are bored by the wailing diva and who have had their fill of the endless procession of re-mastered back catalogues, cover versions and 'best of' compilations

Individually we prefer to remain anonymous. This is through choice. We don't crave publicity. We would rather do something than be someone. If you have any interest in us at all we want it to be because of the music we produce not because we scrub up well after a session in Photoshop or you've read somewhere that we inject horse tranquillisers into our eyeballs

Big Boot Dance - Who Are We?

We are a 5 piece schizophrenic duo with tendencies towards exaggeration and confectionery. We were formed as a result of a meeting between original vocalist Dickie Tumm and guitarist Ginger Nuttz after being introduced by compere Larry 'Lipless' La Rou at the 1994 Edinburgh fast whistling festival.

As a result of some disappointing gigs at the Pig Jackers bi-annual dinner dance, the narcoleptics convention and the agoraphobics open air festival the duo parted company with manager Bertie 'Big Bollocks' Masson and forged a partnership with impresario Archie Fatcacky.

Following a recommendation from music journalist and committed omnivore Spotty Bott, Archie drafted in bassist Gary Baldy and Welsh drummer Dai Jestive to form a world class solid biscuit foundation to the band, to compliment the caramalic qualities of Tumm and Nuttz. Adding a chocolate like coating in the form of rhythm guitarist Rich Tee, the former world deep sea darts champion and squid wrestler, Fatcacky completed the band line up.

After some frankly disappointing recordings with world famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a breakthrough was eventually made when we teamed up with lesser known engineer Scratchy Potts after a recommendation from producer Anthony 'Tone' Deaf. Scratchy provided the nutty topping and the glossy wrapper to complete the confectionery creation.

Following the release of 'Tich Is God', a 6 track EP, we entered a three year period of contemplation and frank talking but eventually bounced back, in 2006, with our unique brand of Eclectronica (do you see what we did there?) in the form of LP 'If You Can't Fight Wear A Big Hat'.

The three wilderness years were turbulent times for us resulting in founder member, and lead singer, Dickie Tumm leaving the band after a disagreement in musical direction. His desire to take the band down a savoury road caused grave concerns for the rest of us, who wanted to remain faithful to our pure chocolate crunchy coated roots.
Those concerns were compounded when Tumm was spotted in a night club leaving a toilet cubicle with cracker crumbs around his mouth. His exposure by the tabloid press meant his position in the band became untenable and he was dismissed.

We approached ex-Bamboo Slash frontman, Jamie Dodger, and he joined the band in the summer of 2005. Former pastry chef Coco McArune joined later the same year and has added a smooth and creamy new dimension to our wind output.

Since then the band line up has remained stable and our second LP 'Eclectic Electric Acoustic & Cake' was released in January 2011.

Hi there Big Boot, love your bio - one of the most honest and interesting ones I have seen on BJ. Thanks for reviewing Fruit of the Spirit Instrumental. Makes more sense w/ the kids vocals if you wanna take a listen....Mrs. Kate http://www.broadjam.com/player/player.php?play_file=24409_468603 1

Thanks so much for your nice review of my song: HE AIN'T LOVING ME. On 4 of my demos after I ripped them twice, I got the clicks and cracks. I'm using windows media player. Don't know how to remove them and I won't be able to license them this way. The cds are fine. Do you know anything about solving this? Sylvia

Hi Sylvia, I'm not a great tech head, but i'd use something like Wavelab or Cool edit pro for ripping, hope this helps.
