Les Browning
"Singles"
Press Release
3/15/2023
Humble Perseverance, a lifetime of trials, a lifetime of love and friendship, all are true, but most of all the love of Jesus Christ who will never leave our side. Singles is a fifteen song testament to all the adventures that we lived together, beloved outlaws, Veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, into today's service people, and the survivors of both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, that have showed us the way of true love. Love of country and of home. True love for one another.
Earliest, musical influences are my mother and father, Phyllis and Albert Browning. Dad had a beautiful crooning voice, and I remember he would sing to my sister Phyllis and my brothers Jim and John when we were children. Jim the oldest took to guitars, Phyllis and John took off and were encouraged in school and athletics. As a youngster I turned away from sports due to very serious debilitating asthma, that just about killed me but my parents were so incredible they kept getting me the medical attention I needed. By eight or nine years old, I was learning how to play guitar, by watching my brother Jim play and my dad and mom were putting every kind of music on our plate, the classics, big band swing, surf rock and all the 60's Lp records that the little home stereophonic console could handle. In the middle 1960's our family was in transition, I think I was seven, Jim was nine years old, & Phyllis and John were just babes when my family was making a permanent change out of San Rafael, and the avenues of San Francisco to relocate to Livermore California. My father retired from forty years in the Insurance business and mom, anchored our family, by landing a federal job, my dad would work part-time occasionally. In 1966 our family moved to Livermore, and in 1967 we moved next-door to our lifetime friends the Alsup family. This incredible family took us in as family. The music that came out of the Alsup household was traditional Country & Western and Country gospel. Brother Jim our neighbor Bryan and I played guitar, lots of guitar. Jim and Bryan's talent as guitar players dwarfed mine then. I started to sing then and watched the Alsup family pass around a binder full of Mrs. Alsups original compositions. Soon Bryan and I were playing in a garage band together and we started putting original songwriting ideas down. This became a lifetime practice for me fueled by the memories and love.
"Singles' is a published collection of music, from four original & unpublished Lps, Eps, and probably at least four copyrighted works, from my lifetime in music. Thank You Jesus for all of my incredible family, daughters, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren. I don't know any one that has been gifted with and has so many incredible friends, shipmates, peers and musicians, going all the way back into my childhood and throughout the decades, we still remain close. In late 2023 Karen Lema came into my life, we go back to some of our first neighborhoods in Livermore Ca in our parents homes, primary, middle, and high school.... Love You Karen... Love to all and thank You all for your incredible love. Lastly, I would like to thank all the church community and Christian worship teams here in Blaine and Birch Bay Washington. I look forward to playing, recording, and performing with so many. I am truly blessed beyond measure...
