Thanks very much Joe, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment! :-)
hey Carl, I have some new tunes I have uploaded... please stop by and take a listen... all very different.
Hi Scott, thanks so much for the very kind review of "Down at the Rumpus Room"....it made my day. Also, I put "2012 Blues" back up on my page (hadn't realized I'd taken it off). Best to ya!
Carl, I love your song 2012 Blues, but I see it is no longer on your song list. Would love to hear it again. Scott
Thank you, Carl, for the very nice review you gave for my song, "fractured." I'm impressed by the degree of depth you went into and thank you for your consideration. And, if I may, I'd also like to make mention of the fact that I'm a tremendous fan of the Doors. Your guitar work is awesome. And the music is incredible! Is there a place where I can find recordings of your guitar work in the tribute band? Thanks again for your consideration. Al.
Hi Carl, Please have a look at this kickstarter project in which I am involved as the composer: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/679013361/king-fear-a-new-mask-opera Feel free to share it with your friends. Thanks, Ady
Hi there Gary, just wanted to say thanks for the kind review of "World to Me". It's been useful hearing opinions on it and I'm going to put some kind of melody to it (originally tried singing it but I've destroyed the evidence, ha ha). I'll check out some of your stuff too - just wanted to say thanks.
Hi Joe, just wanted to thank ye for your kind review of "Who Would Have Thought" (jazzy ribbon mic :-) Actually, I was singing thru a Sontronics condenser mic and then used used a mic simulator vst set to Royer. Instant velvet. Great reading your comments because I had some real doubts about the vox (I'm obviously trying to cop Chet baker, good luck ha ha). It's always getting a compliment on the guitar playing too. I'm checking out your stuff here as I write - great ballsy playing with some great surprises. I love that fusion, Santana vibe in "El Loco Joey". Great variety of guitar sounds - very pro sounding man. Wish you best and thanks again.
Hi Jim, just wanted to thank you for the very in depth review of my instru tune (the one with the twang riff) - some very helpful suggestions from a cat obviously who's been there and done it. Will check out some of yer stuff....be talking to ya.
Carl.... it was a pleasure to review you music. Suggestions are but possible tools in a tool box.... some are useful for some projects, and others have their own place for use.... each project is different and requires it's own set of tools. I hope you will continue to use your talents to give the world a musical journey that brings a smile to their world.
Hi, Solid ears and arranging/writing!!! I reviewed a tune and listened to more. Nice work. Jeff
Hi Carl, Guess who:-) I am glad you liked Suits Me...when people appreciate more than one song of mine, and don't know it is I; I feel as though this adventure is all worth it. All the best!!! Peace, Robert
Yeah, I didn't make the connection Robert...youz got some good stuff there man, pleasure hearing it. unique take on the blooze. Be talking to ya, cs
Hi Rich, thanks for the review of "Strange Vibe" (instru blues). Your upfront review approach is always appreciated man.
Thank God for the anonymity of the reviews!
Hi Db, just wanted to thank you for the very kind review of my instru toon "Bail".....meant a lot to me because I'd submitted it for a classic rock opportunity and it'd been pretty much ripped to shreds in the ratings (probably wrong genre). Thanks for the confidence boost man!
just giving credit where it due!
All right! Thanx again!
Hi Tommyjo, thanks for the review of Capitaz, always good to meet other pickers here at Broadjam....all the best!
You welcome, enjoyed your song and look forward to taking a listen to more of your music. Tommy
Hi Carl, just listened to Mari's Mambo and really love the groove! Hope things have been going well with you. Sending all good wishes...
Well...thank you Kathryn, thanks for dropping in :-) Things okay over here in Milantown, can't complain. Hope the same for you!
Have you been writing much????
Yes, things are good, esp as it's 55 in New York today! I have been writing, thanks for asking - 3 more Christmas songs, and a couple of jazz tunes at the moment. How about you??
Great to hear the Northeast is finally getting some defrost....my Mom's in Boston and couldn't take anymore. Glad you're composing (yeah, 'tis the season to get that holiday material together, I should try to write one :-) I'm finishing up mastering a new one called "Ordinary Guy" that I'll be putting up in a day or two. Stones/Byrds styled classic rock vibe. I'll check out yer new stuff!
Thanks for the very thoughtful and professional review of Another Day. It was originally a Doo Wop tune that kept growing:-) I am thinking Sax...good catch!!! All the best!
Oh man...was that you Robert?? Whoo, great piece. I kept seeing Joe Pesci saying "You think I'm funny?" while hearing it :-) Actually wanted to give you a shout to thank you for the review of "Mundo Gonzo". Couldn't resist sticking the mellotron in there, ha ha. Yeah man, keep 'em coming.
Thanks Carl, Yeah, I like singing more than anything else...and when it all comes together...it sure does feel good:-) Mundo Gonzo is a cool little ditty!!! Peace,
Really comes out in the music Robert.....and yeah it sure feels good when it all clicks! Backatcha, cs
Hi there EJ, just wanted to thank ye for the nice review of my toon "Indecision" - appreciate it. How's everything up in the 'Pool? Cheers, Carl
Everything's great up here. Enjoyed your 'toon'. cheers. EJ
thanx 4 the review! alva
Hi Carl, if you get a chance check out the vocal version of "If I Our Eyes Had Never Met with Phoebe Blume," she put a nice face on the song, Felice
Thanks Felice, I'll do that....thanks!
Hi Carl, thanks for the very gracious review of "If Our Eyes Had Never Met". I guess I was going for something on the order of the music in "Casablanca, with Bogart. You give wonderful indepth review. All the best, Felice Kaye-Cooper
If Bergman had sung like that to Bogie, he wouldn't have let her take off with Victor Lazlo! It was a real pleasure hearing that Felice.....all the best :-)
Thanks Carl, appreciate your observation and that you enjoyed the piece. ALl the best, Felice
Hi Rich, thanks for the in depth look at my lounge toon.....I'd been meaning to have another look at it and your comments confirmed it was probably a good idea. Quite a CV ya got there....appreciate you taking the time man. Best, cs
Dear Carl, Thanks for your great review of my piece "The Jump"! I really appreciate it. You are my first reviewer here... I'm on broadjam since 12/31/10 and just recently submitted some of my songs for review. I wanted to thank you immediately so I still didn't have time to listen to your music. I'll do it soon and let you know how I feel about it. Regards, Ady
It was a pleasure hearing "The Jump" Ady and I'm very happy to have been the first to give you some feedback. I wasn't surprised to see how much work you've done scoring and composing....it was pretty obvious from listening. Would love to hear any comments on my material (much appreciated, whenever you get a chance) and in the meantime all the best with your music and everything else. Cheers.
Hi Carl, First of all thanks for another kind and warm review from you - this time on my piece "Beautiful Past"! Secondly, I finally listened to the songs on your page and I like them a lot! They have such great energy, positive energy, and also feel like they really come from your heart. I see from your bio that we're about the same age - I was born in 1965... I also see that you live in Milano - I love Italy a lot and have friends there, even though more south - in Roma and Bologna. I worked with the great Lucio Dalla and I admire him both as a musician and as a person. I hope to be more in touch. Good luck! Ady
Just listened again to Sponge - a great song!!!!!!
Hi there Ady, seeing your comments really made my day - thanks. Yeah, I've been in Milan for about twenty years after leaving the States in 1990; Milan's kind of the "grey, serious face of Italy where everyone works" but at least I can make a living teaching while trying to get discovered as a composer, ha ha. Rome and Bologna are both great cities and lot more relaxed than Milan - probably more representative of the "real Italia." I visited Israel for three weeks back in the late '80s as a US sailor (Haifa) and had a couple of great jams in Tel Aviv....a lot of fun. Anyway mate, I look forward to staying in touch and hearing more of your music. Cheers! P.S. My wife is a big Dalla fan and well-impressed that you worked with him :-)
Hi Carl, Happy to have made your day! What is it you're teaching? Music? You're always welcome to visit me in Israel when you get a chance, with your wife (and children?) of course! Lucio is indeed a great guy. Very talented, clever and charming. We met through Gabriel Zagni, a childhood friend of mine who is also a songwriter. I arranged 2 of Gabriel's songs for Lucio, who loves Gabriel and even recorded a few of his songs. Your wife can find them in Lucio's recent albums... Gabriel also did all of Lucio's recent animated video clips. Regards, Ady
Actually I teach English.....I think I'm a bit too rock'n'roll for the Italians to let me into their halls of musical learning, ha ha. I've taught guitar to children but the big demand here is for English. Yes, thanks for the invite - the next time the wife and I (no little ones) are in the Holy Land (I remember some areas of Tel Aviv that weren't so holy :-) we'll definitely look you up and get together. Talk soon my friend!
Yes - please keep in touch! Ady
Thanks for the thoughtful review of Let the BLues Begin. As a writer, it always gives me a kick when I can get an emotional response. Love your comment about possible use of slide on the solo. Unfortunately, there's too many minor chords in this. I can pretty much do effective slide work in major keys, but am not accomplished enough for this tune. I was using a Ricky 12 string along with an accoustic rythm guitar. As a song writing demo I guessed that would be adequate.
Hi Vince, thanks for the generous and in depth review of my film toon...very helpful (I'd wondered about the jarring two bass note deal....thought maybe it made it "avantgarde" or something but I'll probably do a remix. Checking out "It's Clear" as I write - very well-done and I can see why you've had some placements. I spent a couple of years down there in Norfold in the late '80s (sailor in Little Creek) and actually really miss it. Saw many a concert at the Boathouse! Cheers, Carl
You're welcome, Carl--it was fun to listen!
Carl, I am a real fan of tour music. Just listened to 2012 Blues, and I like it! Scott T.
Hi there Scott, your message made my day - thanks for listening man!
Carl, I really love how you pay homage to The Allmans. I am probably their biggest nut since way back. You have a unique sound, but ring out some guitar notes like Duane.
For me "Dreams" just reinvented my idea of what a guitar could do...never really knowing when he's fretting or sliding with that B3 and mysterious vibe underneath. Magical. I guess if I can get a millionth of that into my own stuff I'm okay, ha ha. Again thanks for the kind words and keep the great music coming - I really enjoy your stuff.
Thank you Carl. "Dreams" for me is the ABB's first break through. Duane's solo is other worldly.
thanks for the kind words,, Mario www.mariomassi.com
Thanks for your great review of our sonr "Shelter of Your Arms". The Tom Waits refernce was nice and probably true. I spent alot of time this past year listening to that album. Thanks Terry and Kenny
Yeah, nice listen. I love that Waits period too...a lot of great ideas. Keep 'em coming!
Hi Laura, thanks for nice review on my jazz toon....much appreciated. Hope you're not getting too much snow up there in Wales. :-) Cheers.
You're most welcome Carl. A pleasure to listen. No snow now - it's very windy, wet and not so cold. Thank God. It could be worse.
