In a time when producers recieve most of the credit for hit songs with overbearing tracks, it is easy for a songwriter to write without much clarity. LaWanda, however, doesn't fall into that trap. She is a lyricist to the fullest definition of the word. Her songs paint a clear picture and create emotion. She is a natural storyteller and doesn't feel that a song is complete unless the story is finished.

Not only a gifted writer, LaWanda is blessed with an angelic voice that she uses gracefully over tracks. Singing since the age of 8, LaWanda is no new comer to performing. She is the winnner of the Apollo Theater High School competiton, has performed in numerous open mics in the New York City area and have participated in several off broadway musicals. She starred

She starred as Dorothy in "The Wiz" and Amalia Balash in "She Loves Me" at the Bernie West Theater.
LaWanda is a graduate of Baruch College, where she majored in Music Management and specialized in Marketing. While attending classes, she managed to develop her writing skills and collaborate with other songwriters such as Kathryn Raio who has written for Kandice Love (Def Jam) and D'Mello (Reprise records).
LaWanda is definately capable of holding her own with the R&B songstresses of the present.
