Why this name?:
The name J-Class actually came from a combination of my own mind and my father's. We were watchin' television and a Mercedes Benz commercial came on with the slogan, "Excellence Personified." It just so happens that I was in the middle of reinventing my "rap image" at the time and I was diggin' the slogan and decided to take it and use it for my own. But it didn't fit my rap name at the time, which was SK. So my dad was like "Foo'! You ain't no damn car..." And then it hit me. If I was, then I'd be a J-Class, since my name is Jason in real life. I started callin' myself J-Class and it had a couple people doin' double takes around my way and that's pretty much it.

Now, as for Donnie Darko, which is my alter-ego, that's just simply a cool ass name. I got it from a really good movie entitled Donnie Darko and since I couldn't give up J-Class, I decided to take on this name as an "alias" or "alter-ego". But we're both one in the same really...

Oh and I'm sometimes called The Architect, because I rap by my own design. But I didn't make that one up. I actually forget who did, but that's more of a catch phrase than anything, really.


Do you play live?:
I do. Well, I've done a couple of parties, but nothing major. My name's really not out there as much as I'd like it to be. Unlike most of the hip-hop industry, I prefer to stay humble and keep a low-profile. It's a bit counterproductive in getting known... but I don't really want to be known. I just want to be heard.

Your influences?:
As far as rap and hip-hop goes, it'd probably have to be Eminem. I happen to think he's one the realest artists out there, right now. He spits what he feels and that's what I do. If you don't like it? Ah well. If you do like it? That's what's up. Although, I don't want to say that I pattern myself after him or anything, because I doubt Em and I have the same flow, but in the aspect that we both spit from the heart... for whatever reason.
