HISTORY
An exception in today’s fast changing music industry, Jorge Corante, has been consistently building an impressive track record since he was 17 years old. Through drive, persistence & innovation, his sound has made a lasting impact all over the world as he continues to elevate his career into unprecedented heights.
Born in the South American country of Chile, and raised in Boston, Jorge began teaching himself piano and drums at the age of 13. He started developing his production skills by working with every local Hip-Hop and R&B act he could meet. His persistence paid off, as a chance encounter in New York City with music exec. Michael Williams, brought him to the attention of then Motown records president Jheryl Busby. Mr. Busby was so impressed by the Boston-bred wunderkind, that he signed him to a multi-song production deal on the spot. This led to an intensive bidding war from every major music publisher, thus finally ending, with EMI Music Publishing signing Jorge at just 18 years of age.
A series of mainstream projects came with production & writing work on Colin England, C+C Music factory, SWV, Paula Abdul’s 4x platinum Spellbound album, Brownstone, Adina Howard, Xscape, CeCe Peniston, Andrea Martin, Outkast, and UK R&B sensation, Shola Ama. He collaborated with artist and super-producer, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, co-writing and producing, How Many Times Will You Let Him Break Your Heart, on the 3x platinum, Love Always, K-ci & JoJo set. Furthermore, Jorge was enlisted by Janet Jackson to contribute a remix to her top ten single, Runaway. Soon after, he returned to the studio with Janet, and crafted her second single and video release titled, Twenty foreplay, from her Design of a Decade greatest hits album.
In 2003, Jorge reached yet another milestone by forming his own music licensing and publishing company named, Urban Authentic. Under the banner of his new music venture, Jorge produced & co-wrote six songs for the Wayan Brother’s hit comedy film, Scary Movie 3, and contributed nine songs on the soundtrack. From 2004 to 2005, he continued to extend his list of credits by producing & co-writing songs for such urban film hits as; Big Momma’s House 2, My Baby’s Daddy, The Proud Family Movie, & the animated cult classic, The Lil’ Pimp, featuring voices by Ludacris, Lil Kim, and Bernie Mack.
With no signs of slowing down, Jorge’s flagship company, Urban Authentic, continues to expand his ever-growing catalogue, into more films, television, games, ring-tones, advertising and of course - albums. Jorge has come a long way from the local hip-hop scene of his hometown of Boston to rising as an international musical powerhouse. Though he has traveled the world, in many ways, his sound is still a reflection of the city in which he grew up. Never forgetting his roots but always looking toward the future, Jorge is poised for more cutting edge innovation!
