It was during my carefree life as a student in Germany (1977-1984) that I began writing songs in earnest. I also played with a German band called Wesseloh Beach Band.

Music receded well into the background when I began a Ph.D. program in political science at the University of Washington in Seattle. In fact, it did not flare into serious life again until 1994. I was and am a professor of political science at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware. A colleague and I started jamming and formed the nucleus of what quickly became Dover Mountain, a folk/roots rock band. We have been playing occasional local gigs ever since, though none of the six members has been foolhardy enough to quit their day job. In 2001 we played a pub tour of the Dingle peninsula of Ireland, where the above picture was taken. We have recorded two CDs.

The songs I write are somewhat eclectic, but most fit in the AAA, Country, Americana, and Roots Rock categories.
