The Fifth is composed of four veterans of the southeastern club circuit, including two members of the late eighties favorite Gibraltar, guitarist DC Garcia and vocalist Roy Cathey. Cathey, a former MCA recording artist and Cold Sweat front man, along with Garcia formed The Fifth in early 2001 and started the search for a rhythm section that would be able to contribute to the melodic hard rock they wished to create. The search was short lived when they got more than their money's worth with the addition of bass player Bernie Mangiboyat and the hardest hitting drummer around, Rob Lee. It took all of one show to make this hard rocking quartet a staple of the Fayetteville scene and a force to be reckoned with on the NC club circuit. The Fifth has released a self-titled EP, which has sold very well in the year since its release and is slated to record and release a full length LP in September 2003 under indie label Infidel Records.
