"Southern Sky"

Originally from the island of St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Islands) relocated to Houston, TX with her family during the mid 80's to seek a more successful life in the states. SOUTHERN SKY possessed the passion and talent to be an established entertainer, and at a young age of seven, SOUTHERN SKY began to write her own songs. SKY took part in all musically involved events throughout her school years and after the completion of high school SOUTHERN SKY became a member of a local Houston girl group Y-MON. While in the group SOUTHERN SKY was able to participate, performingin local city events including "Fun-Day in the Park"an concerts held in Houston's Herman Park yearly for June-teenth celebrations. Upon the departure of the group, SOUTHERN SKY continued to write and perform at Prairie View A&M University while attending school, winning several first place titles from shows judged.
SOUTHERN SKY has been offered various invitations to combine her extraordinary writing, singing, rhyming, and reggae talents with artists locally and outside the country. SOUTHERN SKY has collaborated with artists at Money Talks Records, PIGG PENN Records, Southern Exposure Records, and several more. SOUTHERN SKY writes her own rhymes, poetry, songs, and has also assisted in the production of tracks used for her projects. SOUTHERN SKY also won several first place titles performing at Houston's popular reggae club "RIDDIMS". Stylistically SOUTHERN SKY's island roots, southern exposure, poetic flare and unique vocals project a winning combination that can't loose.
SOUTHERN SKY uses a combination of singing, rhyming, and reggae to create her own sound and songs. With the attraction of reggae in the mainstream music world today, SOUTHERN SKY would definitely be an artist worth investing time and money into. SOUTHERN SKY has a poetic writing skills which have been compared to the late great 2Pac, singing skills and rhyming skills compared to Missy Elliott, and Lauryn Hill. SOUTHERN SKY has completed and recorded dozens of songs, and recently completed her latest prodject Global Warming. Global Warming entails a true introduction of what can be expected of SOUTHERN SKY, she gives her fans the elements needed to create a realistic feel of her views on life experiences. With a passion for her work, and a vision to create history, SOUTHERN SKY continues to write, record, and perform.
