Lyrics
63 Babies
©1999 Allison, Ransay ASCAP
It was the last year of the baby boom
brand new 63 babies dawn 63 spoons
some are silver and gold
some are plastic and worn
some will grow up to wish
they had never been born
all are born equal as they lay side by side
?
63 babies crawled 63 floors
all of 63 babies that day
but us 63 babies don't remember the war
Beatlemania or JFK
?
Now their rattles are rust,
yet, still in god we trust there's a future
and face it we must
?
63 babies falter under the weight
of a future that rests on their heads
and all of 63 babies that ran through the cracks
and collectively fell out of bed
?
All are born equal as they lay side by side
but grow all too separate as classes divide
their hearts forged into shapes that no longer resemble
angelic, twenty eight year old,
one thousand nine hundred and sixty three
?
Now their diamonds are dust
these are things that we can't understand and will always distrust
now their rattles are rust
yet still in god we trust there's a future
and face it we must
?
63 babies marched 63 halls
with their sights firmly fixed to the skies
and those 63 babies
marched cheerfully out of obscurity into our eyes
from obscurity into our eyes
?
Now their rattles are rust
yet still in god we trust there's a future
and face it we must
