Story Behind The Song
My son used to wake me up at the crack of dawn every morning when he was three and ask me to play with him. It got me to thinking about how it wasn't always going to be like that and there was nothing I could do about it. At the time he had a sandbox that I built for him that he used to play in and I realized that he wouldn't always be playing in it.

Lyrics
Lookin' For My Boy
He wakes me every morning and
The first thing that I see
A little impish, dimpled face
Smiling back at me
With blurry eyes I see the clock
And the sun's first light of day
I hear a voice that's three years old
Say, "Daddy, wanna play?"
Chorus:
Well, I'd give my all
To keep him small and with me
But I know there ain't no way I can
Before you know the sandbox will be empty
And someday I'll be lookin' for my boy
And find a man
Sometimes I sit and wonder how
It was before he came
How empty my life must have been
Won't ever be the same
It seems like he's been with us
So much longer than his years
And thinkin' 'bout him growing up
Most always brings a tear
Chorus:
Well, I'd give my all
To keep him small and with me
But I know there ain't no way I can
Before you know the sandbox will be empty
And someday I'll be lookin' for my boy
And find a man
Break:
I come home from work and he comes runnin' for the door
No one's ever been so glad to see my face before
Some day I'll sit and wonder where
My baby boy has gone
What happened to that little voice
That woke me every morn
And though I know someday he'll grow
To be a fine young man
I will miss these younger days
Back when it all began
Chorus:
Well, I'd give my all
To keep him small and with me
But I know there ain't no way I can
Before you know the sandbox will be empty
And someday I'll be lookin' for my boy
And find a man
