Story Behind The Song
Wrote this new lyric for a Broadjam listing looking for baseball related songs to be used to celebrate Hank Aaron's 83rd Birthday. I used the melody of a song of mine called After All This Time, which uses baseball metaphors to describe getting over a break-up. Just didn't feel a break-up song was appropriate to submit for Hammerin' Hanks Birthday.

Lyrics
Sitting here watching the Braves' spring training; sipping ice cold beer
I can't believe Hammerin' Hank turns 83 this year
Time will never minimize his baseball legacy
Forty-four will always be our heart's MVP.
Twenty-three seasons of All-Star play lead to the Hall of Fame
Right field's never been the same since Henry left the game
Baseball holds a special place for this Home Run King
Hammerin' Hank sits just ahead of the Sultan of Swing
Showing us that it's how you play; not whether you win or lose
Giving his best each and every day so nothing was left to prove
Hank has always been a man of graciousness and style
From player to executive, he's always kept that smile
Though he seems as timeless as the game he holds so dear
Let's give thanks and celebrate Hank's 83 this year.
Happy Birthday Hammerin' Hank!
