Friendship betrayed.

Story Behind The Song

I have worked for a company for thirty-four years and had been promised that I would be able to buy a part of it for at least thirty years. These were supposed to be my friends. I guess not, so I call this song Friendship Betrayed.

Song Description

Many years ago a young man took a job at a store where he was quickly reconized as a good and faithful employee. The owner promised that someday that he would own part of the company if he continued to work like he was doing. Four years went by and a new manager was hired at one of the sister stores where the young man transfered to. The young man and the manager soon became close friends and the manager soon saw the young mans potential and promised the same things that the owner had been promising for many years. The owner sold the bussiness to the manager without telling anyone, leaving the young man out of the deal.

Lyrics

Friendship Betrayed.

1. A long time ago a young boy took a job at a store in a town close to his home, He worked hard every day and he was good at what he did,
One day the owner told him, he said son you?re on your way,
(chorus) Don?t ever mix business and pleasure my friend,
Don?t ever plane your future with your claim to be friends.
History may teach you just the way that it taught me,
They might not treat you right, and they might stab you in the back.

2. The years flew by so quickly as they often seem to do.
The young boy quickly grew to be a man.
With a wife and children of his own,
He worked hard for his retirement days.
(chorus) Don?t ever mix business and pleasure my friend,
Don?t ever plane your future with your claim to be friends.
History may teach you just the way that it taught me,
They might not treat you right, and they might stab you in the back.

3. Promises were made for many years to come.
By the owner and the manager he once though was his friend.
They promised he would own a part of what he helped to build.
But when the deal was done, the young man was left without.
(chorus) Don?t ever mix business and pleasure my friend,
Don?t ever plane your future with your claim to be friends.
History may teach you just the way that it taught me,
They might not treat you right, and they might stab you in the back.
(break)
A friend would never do a friend like that.
A friend would never do a friend like that.
History has taught me and I know it for a fact,
A friend would never do, a friend like that.
