You Called Me Brother (Featuring Bryan Harkness)

Story Behind The Song

Lost my best friend of 44 years and this was written for him.

Song Description

This is a song about the emotions of losing a best buddy who I was in contact with all the time. My sounding board for so many things. The references to the phone are literally what keeps happening. I wait for a phone call, I start to make a phone call or text him, etc. 44 years and now it's relegated to memories. RIP Buddy

Verse 1

The sun has lost it's will to shine
As the darkness laughs and sings
Since you went away with no goodbye
Not a word, not a note, not one thing

Chorus

You always called me brother and it felt the same to me
We came from different mothers, but we're damn sure family
I started calling Jesus when you quit answering
I keep on waiting for my phone to ring
Cause this don't feel right to me

Verse 2

The moon can't find a starry sky
And the wind can't fill no sails
I can't forget day your candle died
You left me all alone, and you're gone, and it feels like Hell

CHORUS

BRIDGE

No more best friends growing old
No more stories to be told
You left me here - for streets of gold

ALT CHORUS
You always called me brother and it felt the same to me
We came from different mothers, but we're damn sure family
I started calling Jesus but He will not answer me
I'm stuck here in this nightmare of a dream...
I keep waiting for my phone to ring....
It just don't feel right to me
It don't feel right to me
It just don't feel right to me

"You Called Me Brother" is a good solid message song that in my opinion needs to be marketed to the tv series I mentioned in my review. It's a good song for that series but your publishing team needs to do this asap. Any tv series season are closed down for a little while and back up again when the series is in filming. Know the last thing added are the songs to fit in certain scenes but the job for finding those songs relies on the choice of the music production person they hired. Find those people for any film or series and let them hear this song, ok? I think your reason for writing the song is compellingly inspired as most emotions placed in the reason for a songwriter to write helps too. I look forward to hearing more from you Tim, as there is a writer of songs, we know Paul Williams or Barry Manolo & even Willie Nelson plus others, who wrote for years before getting something like a McDonald's TV Commercial theme. ALL a song writers work was then accepted from the boxes that held them. Songwriters must write being driven by various circumstances as I said for a lifetime. Keep submitting to Broadjam Pro Review and that sometimes may fine tune your songs plus I always hope for all reviewers gives you constructive advice as well. Thank you!
