Story Behind The Song
I sat down to write a waltz with a friend and had this title floating around in my head. My friend really liked it so we started talking about the scenario and since it seems nearly everyone has experienced a relationship where the feelings simply weren't mutual we thought this would make a great old-school country waltz.
Song Description
This is a love story that doesn't work out in the end because no matter what he does or how great of a man he is, there is no possible way he can make the girl love him.

Lyrics
I could ride up and lasso the moon
pull it back down, turn midnight to noon
and let the tides wash the heartache from you, but the one thing I cannot do
I can't make you love me
Maybe you'll want me like the dance wants its first step
You might even need me like a child needs his first breath
If I could just make you feel what I want you to feel
but the one thing I cannot do
I can't make you love me
I could stop time and undo the things
that made you afraid to love me again
turn back the hands back where we began
but the one thing I cannot do
I can't make you love me
Maybe you'll want me like the dance wants its first step
You might even need me like a child needs his first breath
If I could just make you feel what I want you to feel
but the one thing I cannot do
Yeah the one thing I'll never do
Oh, the one thing I cannot do
I can't make you love me
