Story Behind The Song
Based on my own personal story when dating a beautiful girl in High School whose father was not happy about and found ourselves sneaking about to be together... Never quite understood why the father didn't like me... Guess he thought I wasn't good enough for his little gal...

Verse 1
Your daddy told me I was bad news to stay away from you
Well I didn't listen to him, because you're so beautiful
He warned me one last time, said he'd kill me if I try
To see you, be with you, I'd rather die, then be without you
He was angry, spittin' mad, totally out of his mind
He was acting like he might lose something,
Something HE could never find
Verse 2
I need to focus, need a solution that positively works
Don't know what I did to deserve, this retribution curse
Maybe I should cut my hair, maybe clean shave my face
He reminds me all my mistakes, and brings me down to his place
I know he thinks I'm not good enough for his little gal
But I'm not gonna write my life
With YOUR pen, pal
Chorus
So we need to pack our bags
And head out of this old town
I know a place near a lake where we can go
There we won't be found
We can fish and live off the land
We'll take a stand together, till the dust dies down
Verse 3
Your dad's one mean driver who's truck was rarely there
When he started in with his drink, he was a bear, so grizzly
I finally found the courage, to confront the savage beast
Told him you and I got married today, by a justice of the peace
I thought this just might turn out, somehow better couldn'ta been more wrong
But maybe someday I will sort it all out
And write it down in a song
Chorus
So we need to pack our bags
And head out of this old town
I know a place near a lake where we can go
There we won't be found
We can fish and live off the land
We'll take a stand together, till the dust dies down

And I love you--

Chorus
So let's pack our bags right now
And head out of this old town
I know a place near a lake where we can go
There we won't be found
We can fish and live off the land
We'll take a stand together, till the dust dies down
We'll take a stand together, till the dust dies down
Till the dust dies down Till the dust dies down
