Story Behind The Song
Todd wrote this song in 2007 when gas prices began to soar. The recording was finished and the song was ready for distribution right when the Horizon deep water oil disaster happened. Todd decided to hold back on making the song public so as not to be seen as capitalizing on a tragedy, but with the state our economy is in, and the path it seems we're intent on taking, the song needs to be released now.
Song Description
A mournful 6/8 rock song, about the fall of consumption based society breaks into a big bridge (think Pink Floyd's "Brain Damage") that leaves room for hope in change.

Lyrics
Bless you my child
Forgive me for what I've done
Mortgaged your years
Having my fun
Hearing the warnings
I still didn't change
It's not an excuse
But I come from the days
When oil flowed like water
And we drank like fools
There's nothing more human than ignoring the truth
I pull back and take stock of what I hold dear
Count the ones I love and keep them near
I learn to live simple
I learn not to waste
I wait for the change
And remember the days
When oil flowed like water
And we drank like fools
There's nothing more human than denying the truth
But God sees our hearts
And hears the cries
Of the wounded the beaten and the broken lives
And like the father that he is
He's got to teach his kids to trust in his ways
And turn from the days
When oil flowed like water
And we drank like fools
There's nothing more human than being struck with the truth
