Story Behind The Song
A late night Musing. The words rag and bone, rolling stone came to me, then the story.
Song Description
Father and Son
The son being raised by his mom. A little boy who lives inside his adventure books, dreaming of travel, roaming, romanticizing his vagabond fathers life. Hoping to find him one day and hang his hat next to his. One day he finally catches him at the end of town, lays his napsack down and begs his father to take him on the road. He is refused and told to go back to his Mommas care, but not without a slight nod from his father. He confesses how much his son reminds him of himself when he was young. His son swears he'll find him again one day and when he does they'll ride into the sunset together.

Lyrics
Thinner than a rag & bone
Colder than a rolling stone
Hung his hat and called it home
Never cared about being alone
Something' 'bout him pulled me in
Free as air free as the wind
Part of me was just like him
On the outside looking in
I lived inside the books I read
Roadside shows and travelin' bands
Magic tricks and sleight of hand
Robin Hood and far-off lands
Chorus
Word out he was back around
Caught him at the edge of town
Packed a bag and stood my ground
I said
Take me I'm your lost and found
Your lost and found
take me I'm your lost and found
Your lost and found
instrumental..
Verse
I see myself in you my son
Felt the same when I was young
I'll see you on the road somewhere
Now go back to your Mama's care
I'm gonna find you rag & bone
and when I do we'll take the road
I'll hang my hat and call it home
Watch you when you're good and old
I'll watch you when you're good and old
I'm gonna find you rag & bone
Gonna find you rag & bone
