Song Description

The first two minutes exhibit a recurring sad theme that starts at about 100 bpm. The theme is sad yet dramatic as well. The theme repeats again and again each time building upon itself with counterpoint and harmonics. It finally ends softly with some repeating strings detaches at 120 BMP. The second theme starts as a light woodwind motif suggesting tranquility at first then ending with a feeling of resolution. Then we hear some light variations on the first theme, treating it more light hearted than the first time we heard it, building to a climax. The second theme returns more developed and slightly faster with counterpoint and occasional string arpeggio staccatos. the resolution appears again accentuated with brass and timpani rolls. Quietly, the Celli and Bassi reintroduce a counterpoint of the first theme. Upon the repeat the first theme explodes with the high winds introducing another counterpoint to the theme. The piece modulates and a crescendo builds after which a third courageous yet mellow theme is introduced, with counterpoint, by the violins and celli. This theme repeats more confident and aggressive with brass and builds to a climax suggesting the overcoming of a strong oppression by the aforementioned courage. The piece modulates to the original key and falls back down into the despair as the first theme reemerges. The rest of the piece is just variations on this original theme but the emotions change from staccato laden anger to fanfare styled triumph.
