Story Behind The Song
i have been writing this song for two years. it just never fell together until now. this is about a that i dated for a short time- just long enough to totally fall in love with her. but she left, as s in this type of song are wont to do, and so i write. i still have a bit of a fantasy about her hearing this song somehow... by the way: the backwards guitar solo on this song is by my good friend Kevin Grose. You can listen to his band at www.strange-band.com.
Song Description
this is my attempt at writing a ballad in a way that i haven't heard before. more than a story of loss, it's a soundtrack. it's an electroacoustic ballad from hell.

Lyrics
today I woke up early to the sound of rain
it was soft and beautiful and made me think
I saw the streetlight on your face; I remembered how you looked
beautiful and laughing in the rain
I'm letting go of everthing we had
sometimes I could swear I taste your kisses
and sometimes I can almost feel your breath
I see us face to face and laughing, your arms around my neck
I see you change, I watch you fall away
so if I still carry your face in my wallet
and if I still hold your laughter in my head
it doesn't mean I'm looking for you, but it doesn't mean
that all my hope is
