Lyrics
Behind The Cellophane
On a page in my old photo book
An image from that other life looks back at me
It cannot move it cannot speak
Or hear me whispered words of apology
Yet all the feelings of that moment
Lost in time behind the cellophane
Return to me though years have passed
And the moment feels so close I say your name
If time would give you back to me
And I could turn the tides of circumstance
I'd be holding you right now
And not some photograph that says to me "no second chance"
Yet all the feelings of that moment
Lost in time behind the cellophane
Will always keep me coming back
To find some kind of pardon from the pain
The shutter falls, time stands still
And though I know most things will change
In that photograph and in this heart of mine
You'll always be the same
As I try to turn the page
My fingers touch the loving face that cannot know
And the saddness in that chance caress
Begs me to close that book, but before I go
All the feelings of that moment
Lost in time behind the cellophane
Call out please remember me
And I know someday I'll open up that book again
Abd on a page in my old photo book
An image from that other life will look back at me
It cannot move, it cannot speak
Or hear my whispered words of apology
