Story Behind The Song
The song came from Larry's observation of politics, leaders, and our culture. It came from a disgust that people in the public eye don't take a stand. They are comfortabel staying in the middle where they don't draw attention to what they believe.
Song Description
Leaders are reluctant to take a stand on political issues. Its easier to straddle the fence, don't stand for anything. If you don't take a stand, you don't have to feel the heat. When you stay away from being honest, you retreat inot the shadows - shades of grey. This is too often characterized by leaders and politicians, but spreads throughout our culture.

Lyrics
Shades of Grey
Words and Music by Larry Hagner
We're living in the land of shades of grey
Where there is no night, there can be no day
Where everyone's right
To live their own life
I greater than the needs of other men
I heard a great teacher say
There is no truth, there can be no way
Whose report will we belive
When we're on our knees
God will surely show a better way
God will surely show a better way
Chorus:
Shades of grey
Shades of grey
Shades of grey
Bridge:
Come out from the shadows
And step up to the light
If you just take a stand
The everything will be all right
And you will find
Your peace of mind
Comes in the valley of decision
Where you set the course of your life
In the valley of decision
Where you set the course of your life
Chorus:
Shades of grey
Shades of grey
Shades of grey
Shades of grey
