Story Behind The Song
A TRIB 2 B.G.
Written before his knighthood, this song pays tribute to Sir Bob Geldof and is in recognition of all the work he has done over the years in his efforts to help the starving in Africa and around the world.
From the first live aid concert and then to the second, on to his involvement with world leaders at the G8 summit in an attempt to make poverty history, he has without doubt become a legend in his own lifetime.
Verse one puts over our selfish attitudes in how we all are guilty to some extent of being complacent and greedy and were not, until live aid, willing to accept the plight of others around the world.
Verse two explains that there are millions of people around the world dying from starvation and every day burying their dead, while we in the west destroy our food mountains in embarrassment, rather than get the surplus of food to the needy. Not everyone is happy with the situation and some would much rather it be distributed as required.
The chorus is self explanatory.
Verse three tells of how Bob stirred this and other nations into doing something about the situation as it was encouraging us all to believe that we do not have the right to exist apart from reality, and, that we have a responsibility as human beings to help others in any way we can.
The result is that hundreds of thousands of starving people have been given a second chance, simply by feeding them and helping them to support themselves. All brought about by a man who was not afraid to speak out and was willing to stand up and be counted.
Bob Geldof, a modern day hero.
In my view this song is so basic and easy it will be an instant world wide success, having the ability to be covered and performed in many different ways and by many different artists.

Lyrics
A Trib 2 B. G.
C G7 4 Moderate.
Human are we and it's easy to be full of charity
C
when you don't look further than your own.
It's easy to say at the end of the day
G7 C C5
you deserve your living and your not into giving it away.
F C
Who's for you Jack now I'm all right,
F C G7
my central heating keeps me warm all night,
It's all bought and paid for you can do just as you like cos I'm all
C
right.
But people are crying a nation is dying,
there's a left out feeling each day shadows fall.
They have no way of knowing if they're staying or going,
come tomorrow morning they'll be digging a hole for some more.
How can this be when in our country,
there's a mountain of food for us all to see,
they could have it all if it was up to me or Bobby G.
F C G7 C
Hey B.G. you're a hero to me, you give light, you make other's see,
F C G7 C
leading the people to give easily you're a hero to me Bobby G.
Well you had a dream a vision it seemed
of filling the need, of every woman, chid and man,
You started a feeling now life has a meaning
a reason for living lets get together do what we can,
We have the love and the energy, life is life so let it be,
thank you lord for humanity and Bobby G.
Hey B. G. you're a hero to me, you give light, you make other's see
Leading the people to give easily, you're a hero to me Bobby G.
Yes a hero to me Bobby G.
