A Post-Modern 1950's Summer Love Song

Story Behind The Song

I have no idea how this song really came together...One day after work, these stupid little 50's chord progressions came out of my guitar. Then I went camping later that night and wrote 2 more sections at a lake. Lyrically this song is psychotic...like someone who is going through various phases of a relationship...from the initial phases of it, experiencing the bliss of it, then ultimately, ending it. This four part song ended up being an accidental simple little trashy epic.

Lyrics

A POST-MODERN 1950's SUMMER LOVE SONG
(yes, this chorusless song is completely unmarketable, sorry)

PART 1 (BLISS)
Summer afternoon.
There's nothing to do.
Let's just hang around
In this room.

Beads of sweat
Rolling down my chest
Falling into your mattress.
The only sound is of heavy
Breathing and the T.V. on
In the background.

Evening comes.
Let's open a couple
Of bottles and get sloppy drunk
And make out all night
Until we see light again
At dawn.

PART 2 (TODAY)
Today, when I woke up and left today.
The air was different. I was sex crazed.
Now I'm a freak because of you.

Today, at work I couldn't concentrate.
These filthy demons have infiltrated my brain.
Now I'm polluted just for you.

Today, I thought I'd ask if you would stay
And see if we could try to build something.
I think I could be happy with you.

Today, on second thought I think I'll wait.
I hear these things take time and I really want you.
I don't want to come off as some desperate,
Crazy fool. Gotta stay cool. Gotta stay cool.

PART 3 (SUMMERTIME)
Summertime, when I'm alone.
You'll be by my side. Summertime.
You'll be right here until I find
Somebody for me.

Summertime, I've got so much to learn.
Summertime. My intentions are as
Pure as the light that the sun gives
to this earth.

Summertime, when i'm lost will you
Be my guide? Lead me into some
Kind of light. Summertime. There's no
Turning back anymore.

Summertime, oh I need you. Please
Be mine. Summertime. I need you.
Please be mine, until I find somebody new.

PART 4 (LOVE)
Love. Love. Love.
Love please save me.
Love. Love. Love.
Love where are you?
Love. Love. Love.
Love can save you.
Love. Love. Love.
Without you, we're as good as dead.
